Thanks for a great forum - looking forward to the discussion.

I have a D50Q that was professionally installed and setup years ago, and have decided to breathe new life in to it with an HDFury2. However, for the life of me, I can't get the combination to output past 480p.

Here's a description of my setup:

Projector: Sony VPH-D50Q
Input: Cisco Exlporer HD8642 Digital Cable box and PVR from Rogers
Cablebox output: 480p, 720p and 1080i at 60Hz
Connections: HD8642 -> HDFury2 via HDMI
HDFury2 -> D50Q via RGBHV

I've got the projector setup correctly as per the manual. And it works just fine when I set the cable box to output at 480p. As soon as i change that to 720p or 1080i, the picture starts jumping, there is a lot of noise, flickering, etc. You can see that there is a picture out there but it's very jumpy and comes in and out. Totally unwatchable.

I've tried everything i could find online and nothing makes it work.

As a test, I ran my xbox360 (direct, no HDFury2 via RGBHV) and I can output at surprisingly high resolution (1280x1024 was no problem - did better also).

Any thoughts on what might be going on here?

Let me know if I left any pertinent info/background out.

Are you using the power supply with the Fury? Where did you get the Fury from?

Thanks for the interest.

I bought the HDFury2 through the links on curtepalm.com. And yes the power adaptor is plugged in to the HDFury2.

What else should I look out for?

I am using a Fury2 with a D50 so it can be done. Make sure that you have the input setting in the menu setup set up correctly. Cannot recall what the setting is but you can toggle between the options and see if this fixes the problem. Check the switch on the HDFury as well. Also make sure that you do not ouput 1080p, the pj cannot handle this high of a resolution. If I get a chance I will look at my settings and post.

Try connecting a computer monitor to the Fury and see if that works above 480p. Make sure the Fury power supply is properly plugged in. Sounds like a setting in the Sony as drice says, or that the Fury isn't getting power.

Ok, it's pretty straight forward. I have the input I am using set to RGB and the HDFury set to RGB. I have the 5 BNC mode set to off.

My settings are the same drice.

Connected via RGBHV (5 bnc connections), input set to RGB, HDFury set to RGB and 5BNCMode set to off.

Puzzled ...

Going to test it with a monitor.

Okay ...

Tried it with the same setup and a monitor instead of the projector. Again, no luck beyond 480p.

Brought down a second cable box (which is outputting 1080i fine on an LCD tv) ... connected to the projector and monitor via HDFury2, again no luck past 480p.

So it can't be the cable box, monitor or projector ... does this mean I have a faulty HDFury2??

Any other ideas?

Go into the menu on the D50 and change the clamp setting. That may help your picture.
