Guys!

The trailer looked promising; huge alien robots landing in Los Angeles with bad attitudes towards the locals. Aside from the board-flat soft edged picture quality, which I expected, if you've seen the trailer, you saw all the cool sh*t. Thirty minutes of our hero from back east laying around his buddy's hi-rise condo, then another thirty minutes of the condo rent-a-cop yelling "aren't you going to fight back? We have no water, no electricity....." The bar was well stocked, so what's the hurry?

Yeah, I want to run out in the street and fight an army of bus-sized aliens with my bare hands....I snapped and walked out about half way thru........this movie is seriously in need of a plot.

wow, so not exactly District 9 huh?
This is rather common, they will make a sh*tty movie that's similar to a good movie and hope to snare people. Sad Thanks for the warning

You know that you can indeed ask for your money back if you don't like a movie. Walk out and ask for a refund.

When I saw the trailer for this on TV, my first thought was "oh boy that looks like a BAAAD movie".

Rated 14% at RottenTomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/skyline_2010/

Get a Life, James.......

While flawed, few will go see Skyline and not have fun. Nov 16, 2010

Yeah, I don't know how I let my buddy talk me into seeing this. There's some nice scenery and cool FX, but the plot is crappy/slow, not to mention the movie ends in such a way that one could believe they simply ran out of money or ideas.

My best friend had a chance to work on this, but declined. His buddies told him it was painful.

Hahah... I just hit the RottenTomatoes site for the hell of it, and the first review pull quote I saw was this:

Quote:
If aliens ever invade Earth, it will be to stop us from making another movie as bad as Skyline.

Fantastic!

Still, though - at 14% I believe it's significantly better-rated than "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever". Forget trailers - I remember knowing that would be sh*t from the banner ads.

I use Rotten Tomatoes for all my movie selections (in my case DVDs). I won't rent/buy anything that doesn't get at least a 70% rating.

One thing I do is click the "Top Critics" link (located right above the tomatometer bar). This eliminates all the revues by people that really don't know anything about movies. None of the Top Critics gave Skyline a positive rating. Overall a 0% rating.

Like Tim mentioned, a movie can look promising in the trailer and turn out to be a total turd. Rotten Tomatoes can help you avoid bad movies such as Skyline.
