|
|
Ok I have these no wear PT-22 tubes. I am under the impression that they will put out less light power [Lumens] Then my current P-19 LCP tubes. My current screen is a D/W 104x59" 119" diagonal. I like the size, but it's to dim, no surprise, right?
So when I install the new tubes I will be taking down my P/J and was considering building/buying a new screen. I am thinking of going curved, on the sides in hopes in will increase the edge brightness and focus. I think that since the sides will be closer than the center the should be receiving "more" light and therefore be brighter.
The focus should also improve as the side are naturally less spread out with the sides being closer to the P/J's lenses and should counteract the extreme angles of offset from the red and blue tubes.
Of course I could also just mask my current screen down to a smaller size of say 100" back to what I was using before the D/W but that would be too easy, and too small for me also.
Then of course there's the Torus screen which seems to need a fan to be used? Well maybe, but weird.
Can anyone calculate what size difference would be needed for any of these scenarios, Maybe Gary?

from what i know a torus screen is to get even brightness on the screen so yes total brightness is increased and maybe if you go with a torus screen you can keep the same diagonal or go a bit smaller.
the pt22 tubes are razor sharp and do not bloom as fast as the lcp tubes, you will like them for that.

I just picked up a minty P22 green for my beasty. Will be forever until I have time to install it though. Look forward to hearing about your progress.

Says the Guy who does a 96 HZ set-up on 2 P/J's that are running fine at 72 HZ just because .... well just because
The screen is super easy for me to build so 1 day and it'll be done. I plan on doing the screen while the silicone is curing, so no lost time there. Also my D/W screen has come un-glued or rather un-caulked I did not use glue and I should have. And I did not use a substrate which would have kept it flat.
Besides I could always just copy what this Guy did

OK so I decided on building the curved screen. I just have one problem I don't Know how
Well not totally I know how to buy the trac I intend to use and put in the studs. I just cant figure it on paper or how to draw the line.
Now I don't have to draw a line. I could just bend the stuff to my liking but, noooo.... I want to draw that damn line .
http://www.pricelesssteel.com/New/CurvedProducts/CalculatingCurves.html
This is still not registering. I know the chord line is 96" or 104". I still haven't chosen which yet. I know the rise is 6". Now the arc?
You got me.
I can't believe I don't know this, but I build straight walls and straight roof pitches, all full numbers with prints to follow.
f*cking embarrassing
Edit:
Ha Google to the rescue!

Nail in the deck 16.25 feet from the board draw arc with tape measure and compass.
Any help? {edit never-mind}
