Can anyone explain the difference between the above two Sony tubes. I understand that the 09MEX is from an AC projector and the 09MFX3 is LC and I believe the pin out is the same but I cannot find anything on the tubes resolution etc.

I cannot find a projector on this site that list 09MEX2 tubes unless I missed it.

They were used in flight simulator (caligraphic) projectors. Maybe never used in other projectors. The neck of the 'MEX is about 1/2" longer than the 09MI (Ampro LC). The bell parts look the same but I can't be totally sure as I don't have a 09MI that is not potted in a housing. The two pinouts are the same (are any Sony tubes different?). They are being replaced with P19LUGs and a pinout adapter in the sim projectors.

So there is no problem in using these for HT use if P19LUGs replace them.

My guess is they will work but my only experience with them is firing up an unpotted tube in my Ampro 4200. It worked with the standard neck card and the focus looked good with the standard focus magnet.

There doesn't seem to be much information on them anywhere. You wouldn't happen to know what resollution they are capable of or are they in the same league as 09MFX3?

I've never seen the spec sheets. They can't be too much different. If you can get a good set for cheap it would be worth a try.
