It can certainly be frustrating to come home, sit down for some HD content or a nice BR movie, only to find system devices out of sync (TV on, AVR off, TV volume up and AVR volume up - getting an explosion when connecting to AVR)???
Having just read a different humorous thread
http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=260042#260042
I was intrigued to see the iRule app and the Global Cache network adapter. So does anyone know if it will send rapid sequence or simultaneous IR triggers so that devices don't get out of sync? (e.g. my better half presses the correct macro button on our smart remote, but puts it down (not facing A/V equipment) before the macro finishes.

PS - Am I the only one with this domestic dilemma?
PPS - does anyone also share the experience to come home finding the STB on SD channels, not their HD counterpart?
PPPS - yes I know, good musicians don't blame their instuments, and good husbands know it's not the wife's problem, it's the husband's! My system design needs to be improved!!!!!

Have you tried an RF remote? Doesn't matter where it is facing it just works.
PS - they still rely on IR so they aren't THAT great. Direct remote control is way better (IR in, RS232, TCP/IP, etc.)

OK - glad to get a few good laughs. Now back to home theater - how does one find the correct wiring for RS232 (e.g. Sci At HD STB 4240). I tried to google/bing it and didn't see much real info. Also haven't found the iRule web content terribly user friendly.

iRule as a Source device? I don't think so. Its an accessory. But, iRule doesn't provide media content.
