|
|
I have two moome IFB cards. One is an older IFB HD v1.30 from 2007/01/05 and a newer IFB Full HD ver 05 from 2008/09/08.
With the newer IFB Full HD card I find that one pixel wide vertical lines are dim compared to one pixel high horizontal lines. Green seems to be the better than red and blue, but still dimmer than its horizontal line. This makes test patterns appear to have normal white horizontal lines but the vertical lines are dimmer and greenish.
This picture shows the newer IFB Full HD card on the top and the older IFB card on the bottom. Its the same test pattern just going into the different cards. The projector is using the same video memory, MG focus values, and everything.
I've swapped the cards around and tried both in each of the IFB slots and I always get the same behavior. I've double checked and they are both using the same MG focus values and everything. The projector generated test patterns all look fine - its only when the signal is coming from an external source and running through the newer card that I see this.
Is this something thats been reported before? I did some quick searches but didnt find other threads about similar behavior.
The test patterns I'm using are here and I run them from my PC and PS3:

You should either send your card to Craig or back to Moome to have it upgraded.
The vertical lines when muted during 1080P or other higher bandwidth source is caused primarily from bandwidth limiting.

Yeah, I discovered this issue way back when and told Mike Parker about it. Mike came up with a fix a few weeks later and I tested it here for a while. His fix was perfect and we later shared it with Moome. Moome released a newer version of the card that employed Mike's fix.
Your version isn't bad, it's just that the hardware design was based on a different philosophy. However, this philosophy leads to a less sharp image (that is what you are seeing).
Like Mike says, if you want you can mail the card to myself or Moome to get upgraded to the latest version. I can flip these in usually less than 24 hours so you won't be out your card long. Please email me for pricing craigr@cir-engineering.com
