What is the normal ammount of time it take for an NEC to sync onto a signal from standby? I am just trying to determine if I have a problem or not as I am new to this whole thing. Prior to the image syncing my OSD is also blurred/jumbled and I have a side scrolling image with static you can barely make out.

I was wondering if it could be a cap issue on one of the boards and until they charge back up they do not have enough juice to hold the clock?

This happens no matter what the resolution. After about 10-15 min the screen goes blank the projector makes a relay type clicking sound then the picture comes up perfect. Sometimes it goes blank 2-3 times before the signal locks 100% but most of the time it is rock solid the first time. For the time being. lol

At this point I can turn it on and off and sync resumes but, if I power it down and leave it for several hours/over night the problem resumes.

I think you answered your own question.

My 6pg synced in about a second and never lost it after.

My 9PG may have the same issue, though it never lost sync once it locked onto a signal, it just took about 15-20 seconds before it would lock onto it, and then about 30 minutes after that the horizontal deflection would start glitching out, and then stabilize where it should be...

the PG series is a 17+ year old set, a great one, but at that age capacitors should be replaced, and if your unit was improperly cared for like mine was before I got ahold of it, then it could definitely use some work.

Once working, they are great sets! Capable of 1680x1050 no problem! maybe even 1080p if you use a computer to setup the timings, though I haven't tried

Yeah, That's what I figured. Didn't seem right that it would not sync quickly.

Does anyone have a list of cap values on each board that they would care to share?

I have a completed list of cap values for the LVPS (Power supply under the lenses) since I was going to recap the whole projector but decided not to and went with a different unit all together,

Ill post the document here...
