Hello
I have a Barco Graphics 808-s with nice, almost new tubes but the pj has gone 10.000 hours.
My problem is that the PJ starts up and the fans run but there are no picture. After 5-6 seconds the PJ restarts 1-3 times and then shuts down.
I have talked to a buddy of mine who have Barco 909 and have had different barco`s since 2001 and he thinks that the Vertical board is the problem.
I have changed the G2 board but I still dont get a picture.
Does enyone have a solution for this problem?
Greetings from Norway

It could be, but it could be a bunch of things. Time to do some troubleshooting.
Most likely you'll find that the SF (scan fail) light is on. That's the red LED on the G2 board. Let us know if that's on for the duration that the set does turn on. If so, you have a failure on the H or V board, or maybe even the SMPS.

Are you positive you used the correct G2 replacement board ? If not you could have taken out the horizontal board.

Tom is right, the WORST thing you could do now is to change parts and boards at random. Move slowly, and let us help you do a proper diagnosis first...

Thanks for the quick reply;)
I am absolutly sure its the same G2 board, checked the numbers and a friend of mine who has much knowledge of barco`s changed it.
The SF (scan fail) light is on under the startup, then the PJ restarts and the scan fail turns on again.

OK, so you probably have a bad H, V or SMPS. If you can swap them with known working boards, that's great, otherwise send them to me and I'll test and repair them.

The v-board I have ends with 85, is it possible to use the 86 verison on BG808s.
Think I have read some place in this forum that the 86 card are only a newer kind of card and should work fine in BG808s???
I have got hold of two v-boards today, one that has the same number as the one I got, and one that ends with 86
What is the smps?
Pretty noob with barco PJ`s
Thanks so far:)

SMPS = power supply. Yes, the 86 board should work in place of the 85. Sometimes there are blanking issues, but at least you can see if the V board is the problem.

A I remember Curt I tried a spare G2 board in my 808 that was not exactly correct and it took out a sensing circuit on the horizontal board. I had no Red LEDs showing and had to send you several boards for testing. But the 808s is in scan fail and mine was not.
Well it didn't appear to be in scan fail...

Interesting, I haven't had that happen here, and I've tried 120X G2 boards in 808 sets to see if they would work. They don't, but it didn't blow anything up. but perhaps it could, I know putting an 808 V board into a 120X chassis smokes the V board really well, flames and everything.

You really need a camera rolling at all time while you work

Glad it all worked out fine but send your old vertical board to Curt for repair. You never know when you might need a spare...
