Many Barcos have RGBHV input on BNCs but only use RGBS? My barco 1100,500, and 708 I think function like this. Is this true? Why do they have HV on the back then? Is it for chaining projectors? What happens if you feed a RGBS projector RGBHV then, does it combine the sync to composite?

The 'H' input also doubles as the 'S' input. Before RGBHV came out, RGBs was the standard, so the H input will also accept 'S' sync. On some sets, you need to select 3 or 4 as the input for RGBs.

Hi Curt,

Right, I understand this but do these barco chassis actually accept a native HV sync? According to the manuals I have read it seems no.

The 1100 does and therefore the 800.

All that have HV connectors should also accept it, it have also actually worked in my 500, 2 x 801s, 808s and 1200.

Older Barcos like 500 and 1100 accept only negative syncs.

OK I don't mean to be a pest but I don't fully understand some of the documentation. It clearly states that barco 7xx chassis only excepts RGBs or RGsB input and not RGBHV although the V BNC jack is there. So is it combining the HV signal inside the chassis?

That fifth bnc connector in 70* is for composite video, not for Vsync.

Your confusion is understandable given the layout. Most projectors separate the RGB BNCs and group the composite video input with the Y/C input. Still, the V sync input would have been labeled "V" not "VIDEO", and the one next it it would have been labeled "H" if it was a sync input.

Oh, and one other nit to pick... Composite sync is properly labeled "RGBS" (not "RGBs") since the small "s" implies sync on blue. They're best expressed RGBS (capital "s" for composite sync), RGsB (little "s" for sync on green), and RGBHV.

Unless you have a very late model 708 which has RGBHV & Video like mine.

Actually it turns out I do have HS and VS seperate and then a composite input so that was confusing me as all the information I have said it does not have HV but I guess like alyle said some late model ones do. Also I think something is wrong with my switcher which complicated testing. Looks good now setup with a RCVDS05 switcher. I guess RUNCO disabled the comm 800 port as the switcher does not communicate to the projector but this is not a big deal.
