Been really happy with my Barco Graphics 808s for last 9 years however it's starting to look tired (picture wise) with a moderatly toasty green, I may have the chance to purchase a Barco Data 1209s with a toasty green (worse than mine) tube & a failed quad.
How much could i expect to pay for a new/minty green tube & a quad.

new stock Barco tube maybe $900., new LUG $1200. Cheaper from a private seller who might be getting rid of tubes they bought but never used.
splitter I have no idea, they seem to be in demand though and it appears that more Barco's are being parted out for their HV parts or lack thereof

I believe Eisemann Theater is around $1000 for a simulation grade new green (essentially a lug). And that is for bare tube. You'd need to mount it yourself in your hardware or pay somebody, VDC, Eisemann Theater, etc to mount it for you (I think that is $200-300 on top of tube price) I'd avoid VDC rebuilds even if they are still doing them. I sold a 7 wear rating green for a 1209s with hardware about a year ago for about $100 but it had a small wear area. If you are patient and willing to wait months, I'd bet you could get a used tube for a few hundred that was decent but again you probably have to mount in the right hardware (there just aren't that many 1209s tubes with hardware floating around). The qaud could be harder. I think Curt sells 'em when he has them for about $250. I cannot remember the last time I saw a used quad for sale from anybody other than Curt. You could reuse your 808 quad in the 1209s but you would most likely have to mod the 1209s EHT board (assuming the new style quad is in there) and you would have to swap the metal bracket on the quad. I have been using an 808 quad in my 1209s (Runco 1100) for the last year and it works fine.

I wouldn't call CRTs rare, they are easily enough available new from VDC/Tubular/Eisemann, but rather good used ones are somewhat rare but that has always been the case. If anything I'd say used tubes or new old stock are more common now than 2-3 years ago as more folks are unloading their spares. I sold all my spare 8" tubes even prior to upgrading to my 9" set mostly to get money for them while I could. At the rate I use my projector it will be obsolete (for my needs) before I need new tubes. You did just miss an opportunity a few months ago to get new r/g/b bare 9" tubes for $900 the set. What is rarer these days are the HV quads. The only way to get those, other than from Curt is to buy a spare projector. Luckily I have a spare. That said if you aren't into DIY projector repair and getting the project dirt cheap like I did, I can see the appeal in a digital.

Keep in mind that whatever youj buy new for a digital, you'll get 2-5 years out of before you throw it out and buy a new one due to product failure.
I have a bunch of green and blues that I will be listing in the next couple of weeks. Figure about a '7' on a scale of 1-10, with a very large even 4:3 wear pattern... I also have some 7-8 greens, but with a 16:9 wear pattern. Once I organize the shop this weekend, I'll list them individually with clear pictures of the wear.

ha, if you think thats expensive try a pt22 green, i asked tim and they are 4900 usd new.

9 inch CRT's in the UK are quite rare, even rarer are 9 inch CRT's with good tubes (esp the green).
My Barco Graphics 808s has reasonable tubes,

However my blue (skies) are going greyish & the whites are looking yellowish so i was hoping to find a 9 incher with tubes better than mine.
I don't want to go digital but i do want HD, i could wait for a decent 9 incher but when is that gonna happen.

There's a new blue for your 808s on e-bay now for $350., and your 808 will do 720P HD very nicely.

If you HAVE to have 1080P then you'll have to spring for the 9. 9 inch machines with clean tubes seem to be hovering in the $3K range, less if you gamble on an as-is surplus set. That's US prices fo course, not sure about EU?
