So, when reading this thread on some DIY subwoofers, the guy shows off his rack Mr. Green Included in this power assembly from hell is this hard drive management solution. Still, check out the rack image.

Oh, and take a look at the thread itself on his subs. Holy Jeezus!

Three 30-Amp circuits for the three subs. The electric meter needle is not a fan.

So, here's my question: I've been reading up on reference levels (as much as I can find) for theater usage.

What good does it do to have subs that can go to 115db or that hold at 103db down to 10hz when theater spec is less, and mixers don't mix for it? Boost the levels to match and closing doors will sound like hand grenades - and the low end most likely gets rolled off in the mix per spec. Boost EVERYTHING and all you did is make the whole thing louder; great, now crickets chirp at 85db. How's that good?

How do these systems actually get used without totally screwing up the mix?
