Hey all,
I'm currently running material off my mediabox (Mede8er), feeding HDMI directly from it to my NEC which has the internal Moome HDMI 1.3 card. Sound is provided by my Harman Kardon AVR 8500 and fed by optical from the mediabox.
Now I'm considering which options I have in terms of being able to more easily swap source without having to do a new setup on the PJ due to new signal. One option would be to ditch the AVR 8500 and get an amplifier with HDMI inputs and output and that can scale up to 1080i/p or so - this way I won't need the optical cable either and can simply connect stuff to the amp, which will always output same signal to the PJ and sound is sorted right away too. This is basically what I'm doing in the living room with a Pioneer VSX-LX70, but I would really want to keep that one there.
Disadvantage with this idea would be the costs, plus that the AVR 8500, whilst dated, is a true beast of an amp and if I were to get a newer model HDMI amp that can match it sound-wise, I'd be looking at spending £1500 and above I guess. Not too keen on that.
Alternatively I'm wondering if I can achieve the same by adding a scaler or something to the setup? I've never used one of these and have no idea if they've developed along with everything else and are available with HDMI? Ideally it would take HDMI as input and have HDMI output to the projector and coax/optical output for the sound to the amp. I do not have any idea if such devices are available at all and, if so, what they'd cost?
Any suggestions welcome!

I know this is not an elegant solution but you can get a remote controlled HDMI switcher for $30 to do this. If you can't make all your HDMI scan rates match, it is simple to create a new SIGNAL ENTRY in the XG by inputting the new signal, then go into SIGNAL ENTRY and copy the data from the entry that is setup to the new one.
That at least would solve the video half of your question.

Setting up a new signal doesn't take all that long anymore either....

Ok well I sourced a Marantz SR-8001 at a very fair price, so I guess the Harman Kardon will have to go now
