No im ok now, i had to take a strong sedative and have a lay down, but ive slowed back down again
I was so extatic about it all i forgot to ask the price, but i have replied to the email he sent while on the phone and asked about a ball park figure.
I really dont care too much what they cost, this is a brand new in the box Barco Cine 9, it is probably worth every cent they ask!!

If you find out, please pass then information along to us simply because we'd like to know what a new one costs although it's unlikely that anyone would spring for one at new prices.

I contacted BArco a while back looking for a Cine 9/909 parts unit, and was told that they are completely out of stock. Cineversum bought the BArco consumer line (Cine series) back about 3-4 years ago, and they do still make them, but I'd say sales would be pretty dead. They didn't return the one email I sent them a long time ago.
I'm guessing with VDC's 9500 Ultra being $43K at this point, Barco would be about the same price range, but that's just a guess.

Don't know if Cine9 are still made, but TEC (Cineversum) that bought Barco home theater division seem to have those still available.
Least that was case last year, page 24-25.

This reminds me;
I walked past a computer repair shop a while ago and noticed an old barco Cine7 (I think) tucked away in the corner,so I said what the heck I'll go in and ask about others.
Needless to say I should have kept walking as I asked the owner if he had any 9" crt's for sale,he looked a me funny and said " I had one 9" for quite some time, couldn't sell it as no-one wants these beasts...I did eventually sell it for 1500$"
I was scared to ask but I had to........what model?...........you guessed it.........it was indeed a Cine9!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still get a bad feeling in my gut when I think about it.

Dave that would damn near kill any of us that still like high end CRT!!
Curt, i didnt contact Cineversum directly, it was one of their dealers here in Australia, he called me on the phone and said that they are moving the surplus, but there is still an amount of them remaining. I think they still have 8s as well, i didnt ask about them.
I too doubt that anyone would want to pay the new price, but i for one would if i can still get one when i am able to.

Good luck and I am not being sarcastic. The only problem that I see is that they might just dump them as a lot or put them on ebay. You might be able to make them a good offer on all of their remaining stock.

Barco discontinued production on its CRT projectors, and therefore the derivatives/OEMs like the SEOS a year and a half ago, the SEOS 'get your's now when you still can' costumer note was posted here around that time.
As for getting the last remaining stock from Barco, you'll need to know when its service requirements obligations run out. I doubt they made many in that last run just to keep in stock.

Case
Maybe you can ask how many units they have left, get a group buy together and make a ridiculously low offer on the lot.
I doubt anyone would be interested in these besides us die hards, and getting rid of surplus stock all at once may appeal to them............dunno.....it's worth a try I guess.......what have you got to lose?

Well Dave i think that would be the go, but there is only 2 left, and i can say they are cheaper by a few thousand dollars than a VDC Marquee 9500, and include a scaler made by DVDO and custom modified to remove the image constraint token so HD content will always make it to the Cine 9, so id guess that would work simluar to a HD Fury 3, and just be a substantially more capable product in other areas at the same time.

They are not that keen to let the world's best projector just go out the door at a massive loss, there is still demand, and in the past 3 months, 11 have been sold to private customers. With that said, there IS demand, and they wont just dump them. Their remaining stock of 2 isnt giving much of a bargaining point. But it was a good thought all the same.

Did you at least get a ball park figure?
I'm just curious.

Barco told me 2 years ago that they can't just give up servicing the millions of dollars of CRT projectors out there, so they will service them to the 7 year mark, which I think is about 5 years from now. I know I'm getting way more inquiries from industrial customers than ever before, and Barco hasn't done board level service for I'd say about 3 years. So while sales might be slow, service is pretty darn busy.

My brother-in-law is still using Barco in his flight sims for the military. Heavy work in Australia as of late. Not sure if the company he works for bought a stock of them since they have a long-term contract with the military, but food for thought.

Well let it be known Curt, if this doesnt happen for me, i will have to rely on your help once again, and i know there is no problem there. I think the 1209s looks uglier than sin, but i dont look at the mantle piece while i stoke the fire, so who bloody cares eh!! If that is what it comes to, ill still be happy enough.
