How do you tell the difference between an sli motherboard and a crossfire one? because i have an nvidia 9800gt and i need to make sure i dont put it into a crossfire one cause apparently they dont work. And also what happens when you put a nvidia card into a crossfire motherboard?

I believe the crossfire only uses AMD processors. Or you should be able to look up the specs with your MB model number. It wont function properly but there are some drivers that others have used to get one to work in the other.

You do know that this technology is only to help the taxing on the processor and doesn't give you faster graphics, right?

If you are are only using 1 video card it does not matter if the motherboard supports sli or crossfire or neither. AMD/ATI video cards run fine in any of the setups and Nvidia cards work fine in any of the motherboards as well.

If you want to sli or crossfire then make sure to read the motherboard manual to make sure what your motherboard can do.

A good chunk of the latest intel boards support both SLI and Crossfire to the best of my knowledge.
