Hey all,
I have a 1999 RCA P61940. It is chassis PTK195E2T, the main board is chassis ctc195E. My HOT and flyback went bad and I replaced them. While adjusting convergence, I accidently cycled the power quickly a couple times because I had the front button pcb in hand. My HOT shorted again and the chirping started. I decided to inspect things more closely and found no ring cracks or cold solder joints. I did find 4 resistors that are discolored from overheating: R14110, R14159, R14512, and R14703. Some of the color bands are cooked beyond recognition. My service manual only covers chassis ctc195A-D. I really don't do enough repairs to buy another service manual, especially since none of the downloadable manuals specify the chassis variations covered. The color bands that I can read don't all match the parts lists for the previous chassis variations.
If someone can give me the correct values or even better an E chassis parts list and/or schematics, I would greatly appreciate it.
I know that once the factory deficiencies are corrected these are great projectors. I may convert it to a home theater projector just for S&G's since I have another rear projection tv.

Don't feel bad, in high school I worked on CTC 38s. THe oldest one I worked on was a CTC 20.

Alright, I called in a favor and got the info. Since you only have dial up forget sending it to you. If you need a schematic or print section just post here what you need and I'll post an image here. Here's you info.
R14110= 20K/3w
R14159= 12K/3w
R14512= 150 ohm/2w
R14703= .56 ohm/2w
Now 110 and 159 are source B+ and source +33v so they would be critical in value.
512 is +13v source off deflection and 703 is filament.

Thanks for the info, The values seem to match the colors I can make out. I suppose 703 could be a dark blue, not black as I thought. Maybe I can return the favor some time. I go to the public library, 20 minutes away, for high speed access. High speed is available from telco 2 miles away and wireless 1/2 mile. They ran fiber through our town but not to it.

Sounds like fun! I think we had one like that next to our Vic-20 computer growing up. Thanks a lot for having this forum. I am a firm believer in sharing information and trying to help other people learn.
The resistors read within tolerance (just barely)at room temp but you can see why I questioned them and will replace them.

I believe I have the E2 and the 195 training manual. Would these suffice? I would have to dig around to see if I have just the E.

I pulled out my RCA discs. As you know there are a lot of versions of the 195. And I should have them all. Is this a direct view or RP? Give me the full model number.

Well Harry. The manuals I have are on disk which are actual RCA disks and as such require RCA software to open. They are not PDF's. SO. If you need schematics I can probably post screenshots of such. What schematics do you need?
