Hi guys,

I am 38 years old, living next to Braunschweig/Germany and new at this forum. I hope someone can give me an advice
how to fix my problem.

I have found and read this posting https://www.curtpalme.com/forum_archived/viewtopic.php@t=4142.html , about the dallas chip issue but unfortunately, too late.
I have a D50Q from 2001 with about 1490 hrs. I bought my one, as I think, in good condition 2 months ago.
A few weeks ago, I mounted the PJ on the ceiling. After watching for some hours, powering off, turning on again some days later, I realized I always had to adjust the convergence again.
So I thought to change the dallas (M48Z35Y-70PC1), ordered from littlediode and tried to read out the old one. I was hoping that voltage

would be enough to hold the data. I tried a lot to read out (within 60 minutes after pulling out) but wasnīt succesful.
I tried with Willem Prom Ver.097g/ja and my ATH3.1 SS , as DS1230, AT28C256, 28C256 and at least with 29C256 (read something about somewhere).
Nada. No data as i think (only 04 06 data).
After being unsuccessful, I put the chip back and since then I get Red Error Code 10.

Can anybody tell me how bad it is now...is it hard or even impossible to get a perfect picture as before ?
Does anybody have a working data file for me and can tell me how to burn and go ahead in the right order ?
I would like to put back my hrs and serial no. , simple hex editor and writing into which adresses ?

Thank you very much in advance.

Regards,

Vince

PS: I thought itīs better to start new topic because of itīs own charakter (programmer etc.) and hope thatīs ok.

IN all of the D50s I've had here, I've never had a Dallas chip go bad. When you said you had to readjust the convergence, did it lose all memory, or did you simply have to do some minor adjustments. If you lost all settings, then I agree, the Dallas chip was probably bad, but if it was minor adjustments you had to do, then I'll bet the projector was not set up correctly, or some hardware was loose (or you had some problem in the convergence output section, causing it to drift).

The red 10 error code simply means the set isn't seeing an input signal, perhaps the set is not set to the correct input that you're sending to the projector?

I dont have time to verify myself but did you verify that the pinouts of the chips that you selected in your attempt to read were the same as your chip. Different chips use different pins for VCC, VDD, CE, RE amd WE. Your programmer would send these voltages out to the pins according to the chip you select and if different from the chip you have would then send power to pins that would normally not be powered and would then damage the chip.

I've used Willem programmers before but am not familiar with your model. Is that the correct model number for your programmer?

Hi Curt and McGyver,

sorry for replying that late, work kept me busy.
I donīt know if it lost all memory, i thought so. Every day, I had to adjust
shift, size, skew, bow, zone. Brightness and color didnīt change as I remember.
I didnīt change anything else than once or twice beam focus (these 3 regulators).
I was pretty satisfied with the picture especially in HD.

The difference of the crosses regarding green color was always some inches.
If the red error code 10 is about a wrong input signal then i donīt understand that.
I have an IFD-DVI V2 plugged in and had a picture by both ways.
Input A was YUV and B was DVI. If i pull out the card it makes no difference.
PJ doesnīt even turn on. The electronic prevents it to start it seems.

But if the "dallas" now has no data...is completely empty...how should PJ react ?

@mcgyver

Well, of course different settings might damage the chip. I didnīt check to be truth.
I read about it in a different forum where 2 guys were talking about exactly this chip,
but only about writing and no reading. So first I tried DS1230 then 28C256 at least AT mode.
The little rectangle to pin one, in direction of the lever.
My prog is probably what you know...just the version 3.1 "ss" (for single side). I dunno what
ATH stands for but remember something about Atmega and/or HUB or something.

Any ideas or help ist very appreciated.
Thanks already for you support.

Vince
