A while back my uncle gave me his old energy esm2 speakers... the surrounds were toast so I replaced them, and it wasnt until after that I realized one of the tweeters was replaced by a crappy radioshack one. Needless to say the imaging sucks.. I don't necessarily need direct replacements but would like to find a pair of high quality 1" tweeters to breathe some life back into these... anyone know of a good source?

Try this place. I used to buy from them about 15 years ago. Great to work with back then.

Also, I used to use these guys to get speakers re-foamed.

Also, Energy got bought out by someone, but their customer support is pretty good. The correct tweeter is always the factory original ones.

I hear MonsterTweeter is selling some outstanding tweeters (pulled from 1985 Ford Escorts) that are on special right now: Two for $20,000! But hurry, the longer you wait the worse the deal gets.

Buy more speakers with rotten surrounds, and rescue the tweeters? $5 to $20 at thrift stores, and probably yard sales. And eBay, though not as cheaply; people are harvesting tweeters and crossovers from such speakers and offering them there.

I just saw this, but just replacing the tweeter with a more expensive tweeter won't work. It may be better than what you have now or it could be worse depending on the crossover. If you want to try it out anyway, then go to Madisound or Parts Express. You might do a search to see if anyone has taken measurements and/or replaced the tweeters in your speaker model.
