Despite reviving this old dog twice, and also throwing in a set of perfect zero wear 07MS tubes, i just cant get this old beast to work without arcing.
Ive tried 3 sets of HV leads, 2 different flyback boards, and cleaned everything as best i could with isopropyl ( looks like a near brand new projector inside )
I had to go out today to get some building supplies for my new place, and i stopped at 2 different TV repair places, one offered the best help he could, which wasnt any more than ive been through allready, and the other guy wouldnt help one single bit, was very rude, and even told me im pretty stupid if id bother with anything CRT when digital was so much better ( and if it is, i cant bloody well see it!! )
So anyway, the set is complete, lens are good, tubes have zero wear, all the boards are good, got a few spare boards that are also good, so it would be ideal for spares if anyone needs anything for a Sony 1001 or comparable model
It displays a perfectly good picture, just a very slight flicker due to the arcing. Cant use it like that though, itll end up dead real quick.
If anyone needs some parts for this series of sets, let me know, cause i may have what you need.

Hey Casey, the 07MS tubes were also used in the 1251 and I believe the 1271. There would be a nice upgrade for you. Keep the low hour tubes and look for a chassis with burnt tubes. I bet you can get a 12xx series projector with toasty tubes for a song.

I have a free 1271 here with cooked tubes. Shipping would cost way too much though.

If I remember correctly - the 12xx series used the 07MSP or 07MP tubes - I don't think the 07MS tubes would work.

Hey mate long time no chat Hope everything is going well at your end!!
I thought the 1251 and 1271 had 8 inch tubes in them? Are they backward compatible? There has been a couple 12xxS recently with rooted tubes, and another bloke about 10 minutes from here selling 07MSP tubes ( extremely light wear on the blue, but its not covering much more than about 55% of the phospor )

Hey can someone confirm this? I haven't played with my 1252 for a couple of years.

It's been equally as long since I spoke to you
No the 1251 and 1271 have 7" tubes in them.
I would pick up the 07MSP tubes and wait for a 1252 or a 1272 to retube. That would be a nice setup.
I always wanted to put a set of HD-144's or HD-145's on a 1252/72 and see what it could do with low hours.

Hey I liked my Sony. I even took it on vacation back in '06. 3200km in the back of a pickup truck and some thumping up and down the stairs it worked well. Except the day we had 100% humidity. But it went back to normal after I dried it out.

Being MP's, will they fit into a 1272 with the MSP's and if so, still look the same? (not dimmer or softer?).

It's hard to see the wear pattern properly in those pics so i enhanced them to show up what phosphur wear it has. You can see it was running a 16:9 screen, and not correctly positioned! But still not bad overall. You'd never detect anything on your screen.

Thanks mate yeah that shows what im refering to, it is very light wear, but i think its still wear enough to be seen if it was used in 4:3.
The price they were up to with bids this time they would be a bargain.
