So I just flew down to Amarillo Texas to install a Radiance XE and calibrate a G90. According to the client, the G90 has always been perfect.

Well, we went to turn the G90 on today and got ORANGE 80 (BA board) and ORANGE 81 (DA board). I have never seen either of these boards go bad. Tried the G90 several times and have gotten an ORANGE 64 error which is the 15 volt rail. This makes sense as all boards in the G90 need the 15 volts so I would expect other boards to throw errors with a bad 15 volt section and the DA and BA boards have nothing to do with one another.

My wonderful wife is going to FedEx overnight me some replacement boards this afternoon. I am going to have here send me a GB board and I think I will also have her send the L board. Does anyone think there is any significant chance that any other board might be bad? What other boards should I have her send?

This really $%#* sucks Sad

I've had shutdown and random codes caused by a bad power supply, but also a bad YA board. Send down a bunch of other boards I'd say as well. Won't be too much more to send down a bunch of boards at the same time, and last thing you and the customer need is to be short 1 board.

I've got a G90 I'm scrapping here, but the Ya, LV power supply and V board are already gone.

Shame you weren't closer to Dallas. I could have loaned you all the boards you might have needed to troubleshoot the problem.

I've been toying with the idea of installing the Radience and it would be nice to see it working on a G90.

If the MP G90 mods had already been released you could have also made a detour and calibrated my system. I guess that will have to wait for another time.

Where are new G90's being sold now? This client is saying he may want to buy a new one and keep this existing one for parts.... I know I know, but... He loves CRT and the G90 so he wants that, but only if it is NEW.

I asked what if the YA board goes bad or the pj develops a problem that can't be repaired. In that instance they would refund the purchase price within the warranty period.

Well its good to know there are still enthusiasts with cash out there who still choose CRT over digital. Kudos to your client. Maybe he would've given me a ride in his Lambo....that would have been cool.

No problem!! That's kind of what I am hoping.........my G90 will still be around! I am solely watching the AE-2000 now and if I had never seen a CRT before, it would be fine. Really, I think I would be more than satisfied had I never witnessed the incredible contrast and smoothness of CRT before! The green neckboard that Curt has is bad. He said it needs a video chip and he can pull one from a NEC neckboard or something like that. Has he contacted you? I asked him if he could just fix the neckboard that you have or if he could just use the video chip from that board (provided it's good) so we maintain original parts. Just curious of your thoughts!

The GA board was the problem. Everything is well in the world again.

I worked 12 hours today and got 1080p 60Hz, 1080p 72Hz, and 817x1920 72Hz all set up from scratch including nine zone six poles on all three tubes. The G90, Radiance XE, and Moome FULLHD look fantastic as usual and the client is thrilled.
