after 5 years of faithful service (as my full time tv no less) my vph-1020 is about to be retired in exchange for a vph-d50
YAY! (the 1020 is about to become a project to turn my garage into a full circle immersion display hehehe - to start using the 5 spare parts one i have acquired over the last few years)

Good for you. The D50's are so cute and they are easy to set up too.

i will be fair, i am somewhat worried about that, i know my 1020 back to front and sideways, and i have thoroughly overhauled it now (new caps mainly) but i have a sneaking suspicion that the d50 chassis is going to be way to digital to fault find on if/when it decided to play up

Honestly I have found the latest Sony CRT projectors incredibly reliable and mostly very easy to work on. I doubt you will have much trouble.
