hi all i just got around setting up my pj cause i installed a screen.
i used a ps3 with testpattern 1920*1080 60hz.
i downloaded a playable demo and to my surprise the convergence was all gone, at first i thought something was wrong with the marquee not holding its convergence but upon looking at the signal from the demo i noticed about a 20 khz scan drop.

if all demos that can be freely downloaded put out the same scanrate 43 i guess than i will do another convergence for the demos but if every game has another frequency ie 39-41-45 than i wont bother and skip the demos.

anyone with some experience about this.

currently i am playing movies thru my pc and using a rgbhv cable.
now that i have my new moome card will i be able to see an improvement when i use a hdmi cable from my ati4890radeon to my moome.
the picture is already awesome maybe because i have the 5-2035-02p vim.

any suggestions

as always your help is greatly appreciated.

Most PS3 games are 720p so you have to set up another memory block for this setting.

If you deselect 720p from the compatible resolutions in the settings, it should scale it 1080 for you... I think it goes native to whatever the source material is if you have all the compatible resolutions set..

The PS3 does not scale. If you deselect 720P, it reverts to 480P for 720p content. This is one of the biggest problems with the PS3. On my CRT RPTV that only accepts 1080i and 480p, most games get output at 480p. Sony should take some lessons from Microsoft, with the Xbox 360, you set the output resolution and it scales everything to that resolution.

Chris.

My mistake - I used to have an RPTV that did 1080i only - which is what I was basing my assumption on... didn't occur to me that it was reverting it back to 480p.

Having both consoles - I'm glad Sony didn't take any lessons from Microsoft. The hardware quality of the Sony (especially on the original's, not so much on the slim) is a billion times better than that of my 360. I got my Xbox a few years after my PS3 and as I was playing with it, I was struck by how flimsy everything felt...

All that being said I agree Sony should have scaled Smile

Yep. Converge 576p, 720p, and 1080i (or 1080p), and you'll be done.

The lack of scaling is the one thing I really dislike and the one thing that really sucks about the PS3. I wish it would let me set one damn resolution and just stay there.

I'm not a marquee guy, so I don't know.... But, can't you save the convergence and geometry settings for the resolution you already set up to all memory blocks? That would get you close enough that at least you don't have to do complete from-scratch setup with each res/refresh.
