I was watching a BR movie with my son. When It was over I switched back to Fios. When the projector attempted to switch to the channel saved for that input, I got a error "Error at 5A JB2" there was something else after B2 but the projector shut down before I could write it down. I don't see 5A in the service manual I think it's some kind of communication error .

I'm stumped. I'm controlling the beastie with Crestron control system via RS-232 so I'm relying on OSD for the error code. It has been controlled via RS-232 for years so I don't think that's the problem. I hooked up a factory wired remote and it fired right up. No error codes showing on the LCD display but "auto restart" which is typical if it shuts off for any reason other than a button push. I did a "30[code] and it came back "self test OK" I wonder if the CPU battery is on the way out???

Nashou, you have to post in the official thomas tube thread or whatever

I got home late from work tonight and the kids were watching Wall-E...Twice. No time for tube swap tonight. It's going to have to wait till Sunday. Everything is ready to go though but the red c-element that I have to steal from the one that is in it. The green is a complete assembly, ready to slide in. I did not wish to confuse this minor glitch as something related with the tubes.
I reconnected the serial cable from my control system and it fired up normal

BTW Chip, I'm scrapping two 4600s, both fairly late models. Sad but true. Want a backup set of boards.. cheap?

I still have all those boards from when I bought the second 4600. (5 complete sets).
I am short neck boards though.

I think the menu structure in the x600 series would provide easy stacking. I'm not to sure about blending as it doesn't have point convergence. It might make for a fun experiment for someone who gets wood for blends or stacks.
I have no desire to be involved in blends and stacks. With a 9" projector on a 72 inch screen, you need sun glasses as it is.
