Did you push 1 on the remote ? I think that chooses the RGB input...

Do you have your source turned on and sending a signal to the projector ? Wait a few minutes, it sometimes takes a few minutes to give you an image...

If you ONLY see squiggly lines when you push the Adjust button on the remote, when you have a signal going to the projector and the input chosen, then you may have an issue with the System board of the projector...

what signal are you trying to feed the PJ? It could be outside the max. horizontal scan rate limit of 69 kHz for the PG Xtra.

that's what i was thinking, it looks like a scan rate problem. Had a pc and also tried connecting to a dvd player, both connected through rgbhv. Also tried swapping hv and same thing, buggy signal. How do I adjust scan rate on remote?

you don't. the NEC is auto locking.

You could have a bad system or wave board.

I would check the following in this order.
*Make sure your H/V sync is not mixed up (This is my first guess)
*Make sure the DVD player or whatever source you are using is outputting an RGB signal. You usually have to choose the output in the menu and turn it on.
* Check the RGBHV cable for a short etc. This has happened many times to me.

What you are describing sounds, to me, more like a source issue rather than the projector. Once again it sounds like a classic sync issue usually because the cables are hooked up wrong , the source's RGB (component/VGA) is not turned on or the cable is a dud.

What is the source causing the problem?

Try a PC set to 1024x768 at 60hz.
