Long time no see Wink Which is a good thing indicating that my set up has been running flawlessly ...up till now.

I got a Marquee 9500LC, Sony BDP550 and a Lumagen HDP.

I noticed there was some sync problem during start up sometimes and I figured that perhaps the settings were changed a bit, including the firmware updates of the sony.

So I started to check each bit and the PJ is ok, accepting the 1080p 59.94Hz what the scaler is sending out. So far so good.
However, when pushing the "display" button of the Sony, it shows the HD audio and Resolution while playing a BD disk and it says 480i Rolling Eyes

So, let's set the BD player res to ...1080i....low enough for the input of the Lumagen and high enough to capture the full BD resolution-data (right?)
The player seems to be trying to output 1080i when I set the player to "auto" so something is indicating the scalerinput can have 1080i (no?)...BUT...no result, except for the player to go back to lower resolutions as 480i (can also do 480p/720p).

I am puzzled now, since previously when I pushed the "display" button of the BD player it did mention 1080p/24

Anyone got an idea what is wrong and what can be done?

Thanks,

Arno

Arno do you have a Moome HDMI card also? Here is what you can do in the Lumagen if you want 1080p to your PJ. go to the EDID menu and only select for the input 1080p, select no for all other resolutions, this way the Sony's edid chip will only read 1080p as an option for the output. Unless you want 481 for SD discs. then for that input set the only EDID for 480i, make it a separate input tot he lumagen. copy the resolution output you using to the PJ and leave it like that. the EDID menu in the lumagen will solve lots of resolution switching when you dont want it. On some players that use 1080i for menu's it might even force 1080p upscaling for those as well.

Yep, Moome HDMI Card here.
Hm, I fumbles around with that EDID but not yet as "tight" as you mention it. I assume it needs to be 1080i perhaps since the HDP would no be able to digest 1080p...right? Anyhow...the method is clear...forcing via EDID.
Gonna try that, thanks!

(But, why ...if the player tries 1080i, it doesn't come through...since that one is also in the EDID and the player apparantly already selected 1080i to give it a try)

the Lumagen HDP will do up to 1080p30 inputs (maybe slightly higher). It just can't accept 1080p50 and higher input rates.

So you can easily select 1080p24 as output rate on your BD player

Even with the EDID restrictions...still 480i (which is kinda low for Blu Ray Laughing )

Arno, it should accept 1080p@24 if you have that firmware update on the HDP. Id go to the lumagen Web site and make sure you do have that latest Firmware.

Just tried something else...

Took my pc lcd screen and attached it straight to the bd player....set the res to a 1080/60Hz and I got the movie playing on this with info in screen mentioning 1080/60 (interlaced...but it worked). Next I HOT-swopped this setting to the scaler/pj and I got 1080/24p Rolling Eyes
Rebooting the player and I had the same low res again...
Seems that the player is telling the scaler it can only do low res.....or that the player is receiving info that the scaler can only accept low res (eventhough I did the trial with the EDID forcing into 1080/24.

Weird... Rolling Eyes

Or something happened to the moome?? Naaahhhh

I put the last software on it and it played for more than a year on 1080/24....you expect the software went bad?

No, thats not it. I thought you might not have the latest one is all. Maybe ts something with the Moome Card then. hard to tell. Does the player work directly to the Moome card? That is does it output 1080p@60 or does it go to 480 again?

Things to do will be....writing down all the calibration values of the HDP...then a firmware download...just to be sure...And a direct connection trial between player and moome/pj...just have to get a hdmi/hdmi cable first...
Keep you updated

DONE ! Thumbs Up

I wrote down the CTMP values just to avoid loosing the calibration and I did a firmware "update"...which was basically a refresh since it was the same version.

It worked immediately after that 1080/24p (fingers crossed) and even de CTMP settings were kept on board Wink

(Athanasios by the way....lot of respect you managed to reproduce the bellows after the mission impossible getting the color filters...RESPECT Thumbs Up )

Thanks Arno! I wouldn't have been motivated if we didn't get all those red C-elements !! Hats of to you for getting that project going!!
