I just picked this up at Wal-mart. It supposedly has shifting aspect ratios 239-1 178-1 143-1?
Anyway I'm off to watch it on a fully functional and dialed in GOZER. 12 hours of running and I haven't even touched the remote, other than to turn it on.
But I wanted to, twice

Aaaaand? How was it? Most people I know were a bit disappointed by it. I'm waiting for others to chime in before I spend money on it... or wait til it's in the $5 bin.

i tried to watch that movie. i made about 5 minites in the first time, and 7 minutes the second.
bad movie.

I like them both. No the story line isn't good. No the acting isn't stellar either . But there is a lot of action and great CG work. The Revenge of the Fallen is great eye candy well shot and the changing aspect ratios was cool. I noticed it in the local theater and thought it was going to look great at home, and it did. It went from 235 to 178 a few times during battle scenes and was pretty well used. I thought it felt more dramatic. I wonder how masked systems are going to handle this? And the CIH crowd? The thing I don't like about the movie is how fast everything is shot. I just can't keep up with the movement. Its not blurry, if you hit pause the scenes are very detailed and clear and rich in colors, great for screen shots, but bad on my eyes.
Not a great "Movie", but a great movie to show off your theater with.

I haven't seen the second one, but I think the first one was a fun movie. As long as you're not expecting filet mignon, you won't be disappointed with a double cheeseburger and french fries.
Seriously, though... Great action, awesome sound, incredible CG, and actually the story really isn't that bad to be honest... It's Transformers we're talking about... It's a kids' cartoon from the 80's turned into a live-action CG movie... Is anybody expecting 2001 or Alien?
Definitely worth a watch, IMHO - if for nothing else, the incredible sound and picture and entertaining action.
My wife isn't a fan of the comic book/sci-fi/cartoon-style movie genres, and even she enjoyed it.

The masking folks have to run with the masking open for the 1.78 shots, and the 2.40 CIH crowd is just screwed... Hence the gnashing of teeth over at AVS when The Dark Knight was released last year. A lot of the CIH scope guys were pisssssssed off.

Me, too! It looks kick-ass on my 16:9 screen! 
Actually, the IMAX shots are noticeably sharper and cleaner with less grain... So, works for me!

Just bought the 2nd one previously enjoyed from Rogers for $16. I'll let you know when I see it.
The first one was ok, the hokey "Hiding in the backyard" stuff was a bit kiddish to me. It was like they couldn't figure out the audience they wanted. Some of it was adult, some teeny bopper and some really childish. I was disappointed somewhat, but I agree, great eye candy.
