TV/Projector: Barco Data 701

Posted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 3:22 pm    Post subject: newby Barco Data 701 error

Hello there. I am wondering if someone can offer some help please.

I have just acquired a barco data 701 projector and when I turn it on I get the Hold Down HD and SF lights coming up red. Additionally, the led next to the dip switches on one of the boards is flashing red and the LED next to the top tube width pot is constantly red.

Is the projector stufed or is there a way to rescue it do you think ?

Thanks for any help offered.

You have a problem on the deflection board most likely.

Flip up that PC board and check to see if one of the two LEDs is lit up. A common problem is that one of the yoke connectors is off by one pin, but that board does fail. I don't think I have stock of that board, but can repair it at a nominal cost.

Wow, that was quick curt. I have turned it back on the now only the SF led is lit red on the front ( the green +hthd led is pulsing green ). Also the led D028 on the deflection board is lit red.

Are the yoke connectors the yellow leads ? They look to be connected all ok. Thanks for the help.

OK, it sounds like a problem on the deflection board. Let me know if you want to send it in..

Ok Sad Serves me right for trusting a supposedly reputable company on UK ebay when they stated tested to be working... can you let me know the likely repair cost please ? Thank you.

Should be about $75 USD incl return shipping.

Keep in mind that this is about a 15 year old set. It is possible that it did work at their place, and failed somehow in transit.

Have just had a good look at tube wear through the lenses and there is a load of text burn across most of the face of the green tube - considering that, I guess I am best skipping the unit Sad ( and admitting I have been taken for a bit of a ride ) ?

Yep, that's bad news. Sad Any chance of a refund, or was this an eBay deal?

Tka for the help and opinion curt. Will chase them for a refund - they have a 100% positive feedback so hopefully they'll help me out - otherwise there goes that 100%. Thanks again - wish I could afford to ship one out to the UK from you like previously ( NEC PG shipped to Germany - was a nice one - tks again for that ). Happy Christmas Sir.
