I am unable to run the software for the Barco screen size calculator on my computer so I ran the numbers using the formula in the manual. Can someone let me know if my figures are correct based on the "standard" lens that should have come with the 1209s?
SW (screen width) x 1.311 + 13.029
96 x 1.311 + 13.029 = 138.89
So I come up with the pj needing to be about 139" from the screen for a 110" diagnol screen. My current Sony D50 is about 106" from the screen for a 110" screen. I do not have the room to put the pj further from the screen and would actually need to have the front of the Barco closer than the 106" due to the additional length. Are there any short throw lenses that would help with this that don't cost an arm and a leg?

If we are talking about a 110" diagonal screen 16/9 that's what the LENS software gives (see attachement)
Apparenty only the HD120 and the HD300 can produce a picture of 110" and they both have the same throw distance for that size. For the two other type of lenses available in the LENS (HD10L and HD180), 110" diagonal is out of there range.

Unless you stick it to the wall and put a optical mirror at 45 degree to reflect the picture No.
Mind you the lens tool might not have the full list of lenses compatible with the 1209s.

Your HD120 (HD10GT17) seem to have smallest trow factor (1.15) in HD10 series.

I don't know how your room is set up but I was sort of serious about the mirror. If you put the projector against the wall you save roughly 1meter (40inches).
I have seen this kind of configuration several times on a French forum.
I can already see two little problemes though:
-Not sure it's good to put a CRT projector vertically (cooling, particules falling into the tube neck...)
-You need a to get an optical mirror and align it properly

The room itself is plenty big but I utilize a floor mount (please no suggestions for ceiling mounting) and this would put the projector into one of the seating areas. I have just pretty much finished getting the room to where I want it and do not want to redo everything to fit in a new pj. I may still go by and check it out. Maybe I will install it on a cart and use it for outdoor theater if it is in alright condition.
