IT's easy to calibrate a projector for DVD or Bluray, just pop in a test disk. What do you do to calibrate for Directv or Fios. I only pass SD stuff through my scaler which has on board test patterns for the signals attached but I pass my HD from Fios direct to the PJ through a HD Fury. I've been struggling with this one so It's been by eye. I can not alter using my HD pass. What ever goes in comes out.

1080I but I have not found all providers created equal. Prior to my test pattern generator failing, it's outputdid not match timings of DTV so convergence was off. So how can I be sure color is correct?

I'm not worried about convergence. Genlock is fine. It's the color that I'm trying to calibrate. If I could get 0-100 IRE windows through my Fios receiver all would be well with the force.

DirecTV still broadcasts test patterns on HDNet, at random times. The last time was November 14 (Saturday) at 6;30 AM. They broadcast about 5 test patterns, including a pluge, crosshatch, and color bars among others. Each pattern is up about 3 minutes. They cycle through the set. The whole thing lasts about 15 minutes. Go to the HDNet website, and do a programming search for Test Patterns to find out the next time they plan to broadcast. Don't bother calling DirecTV to try to find out when HDNet might be broadcasting test patterns, or if any other channel is broadcasting test patterns. They don't have a clue what a test pattern is. Not even the second level of tech support.

I don't have FIOS, so I can't help you there.

My wife thought I was crazy getting up at 5:00 AM on a Saturday morning to watch test patterns. Smile

And if you had a DirecTv DVR,, even better...... Smile

Actually if you had a DVR you might be able to paste some test patterns on the hard drive.

I was unable to locate it in a search for a program on the Fios box but was able to do a manual recording based on channel, date and time. Now lets see if it takes. I've never tried manual recording. Thanks,

Chip

Ya, it took. It shows up as the station being "off air" When I got home from work I went looking for it. The wife deleted it as she thought it was a mistake. She didn't try to view it after all who whould record a channel that is off air Laughing
I'll have to wait till next time. Rolling Eyes
