It will only work if analog RGB comes out on your source DVI connector. you'll most likely need the HDFury2 sold on the front page of this site if you're trying to convert a digital DVI/HDMI to an analog RGBHV signal.

From my PC I use a DVI-I to 5xBNC cable.
Got it on Ebay.
The adapters work, but some of them cause ringing.

From a PC, all you need is just a gender changer, yes, BUT from a dvd player, you almost certainly need a format converter, like an HD Fury for $57. from monoprice, or an HD Fury 2.
DVI is a connector which can be capable of carrying more than one type of signal. If the device which uses the DVI connector is one which complies with HDCP copy protection, which almost all dvd players with DVI or HDMI outputs are, then the type of signal carried on the DVI connector is ONLY a digital signal. If the device does NOT comply with HDCP copy protection, then the signal carried through the DVI connector could be a digital signal, OR an analog signal. With analog signals, all you need is a gender changer or breakout cable, but with a digital signal, you MUST convert it to an analog signal with a device of some kind.
The output via HDMI on ALL blu ray players is HDCP compliant. As such all blu ray players would need a conversion device to get an analog signal from an HDMI or DVI connector.
All DVI connectors on computer PC graphics cards that I've encountered transmit an analog signal so all you need is a gender changer, which usually come with the graphics card...
