Hello,

I've now decided to use my NEC9PG instead of the BarcoData 808 because it is much smaller and performance is nearly the same but the tubes from the NEC are in better condition (9/9/9) and it's already noise modded.

Now it has HD6c ml (already color corrected) lenses, center focus is good corner focus could be better.

so i would get a set of HD145 color corrected lenses for a quiet good price from germany (that is very rare)

would a change increase sharpness significantly ? they HD145 can be mount on the nec without any mods or ?

has anybody already changed from HD6 to HD144/145 ?

best regards

they should go on with no mods....and they would likely present a nice upgrade for you.

Having owned and used every iteration of NEC PG, I would be shocked if you could SEE any difference AT ALL by changing your lenses. Your current lenses are already color FILTERED, and although I do not have a spec sheet for them, I would bet they are rated at the exact same resolving ability as the HD145's.

If you can get the HD145's dirt cheap, sure give it a try, but use some form of OBJECTIVE test to determine if there is a REAL difference.

Also, as benareeno points out, they bolt into place with no modifications whatsoever, they were standard issue on PG Plus's.

PS: Your corner focus on a PG is compromised by the projector's lack of continuously variable lens flapping, not the lenses themselves. If you want to improve your corner focus immensely, make sure your projector is positioned EXACTLY where the manual tells you to, OR, modify your lens mounts to allow for continuously variable lens flapping.
Also, PG's lack zone electronic astig, which makes perfect focus more difficult to achieve, especially if your CPC magnets where screwed with from factory set position...

The filtering seems different on the HD6's vs the 144/145's too....the red is more of an orange. I have both sets here and a PG+ chassis...I'll evaluate them when I get the chassis working.

You can add flapping to a PG using cone-shaped springs (like the ones in the base of an old flashlight).

Mark,
I am interested in this. Do you have any pics of a projector with these?

Nice. Looks easy enough. Do you have any problems with the bolts working lose? I ask as my projector is right below a busy part of our living room (lots of traffic).

Dunno.

We played with this 6 or 7 years ago. It was never really tested long term.

But I don't think that will be an issue - they are working like spring washers.
