I have changed this post to better reflect what I am asking for. I have an Eyeone display 2 That I am having a hard time using. Is there anyone near me that might be able to show me how to use the Eyeone properly. I am in maryland 21817.

If you are nearby and are just more computer aware than I am {which shouldn't be hard} And would helpout I am willing to offer the use of the Eyeone to you for your help. If I can be of any assistance to you on your P/J I am willing to do that as well. Such as help ceiling mount,or just help you tweak the position, a second set of hands always helps.

Not to be rude but have you even read Kals calibration thread in the audio video forum? It's right at the top of the page and is pretty descriptive. Calibration for dummys Wink

dont get hung up on gamma right away Dave, and i did not do colors first. i wouldn't do them unless you really notice it being off. First step is to get the black level correct for each color and this is the starting point.

Use a full field 5 or 10% IRE window with contrast and brightness set at 50.

Then go into each service menu for G2 and drive controls looking into the lens at an angle so you don't blind yourself or use some sunglasses,Adjust the drive to about 50 for blue, 85 for green, and 30 for red. then adjust the G2's for each color till the raster around the full 5% field just lights up, then back off one click.
That color is done, go to the next color till all rasters are barely lit.

set up the D2 to angle towards the screen in a way that will catch the angle of the lens perpendicular, if using Calman the sound of the measurement can be heard to let you know which way your getting the highest reading with out having to have the comp face the screen to contaminate your reading. depending on your screen size it should be about 8-12 in calman, on my blend i hit 15 but thats because its much closer to the screen.

Now you use your D2 to take measurements at all 11 IRE's 0-100 so you get an idea of what is going on. then use 30 IRE and 80 IRE. use the G2 for the 30 IRE and the Drive for 80 IRE. this is where you have to decide how much you want to tweak it and go back and forth between the two IRE's till you get less and less adjustments needed or till your eyes are bugging out Wink

The do a complete reading again to see how the whole RGB curve looks. if you get a hump in the blue you will need to defocus the blue electronically in the service menu. then go back and go over the 30 and 80 ires again in the same fashion. thats about it.

Then you can look at some material and see if you want to tweak out the colors anymore. but then you have to go back and do the greyscale again.

its a long process but worth the effort.

I don't get this offer... it doesn't make any sense.

You're looking for someone to show you how to use the EyeOne Display 2 you own and then say you will go to their home to help them calibrate their projector? But they already know how to do that, and you said you don't. You want someone to teach you and then you'll teach the same stuff back to them? Smile

The other problem is that anyone who knows how to use the EyeOne Display 2 properly will already own a colorimeter (and likely the same one), so they don't need to and won't want to borrow yours! Smile

You said my guide's too long/put you to sleep. That's fine - it's long and not for everyone.

I'd say your best option is to hope someone will do a free calibration for you (there are lots of helpful people here), or you could pay a pro.

I'd repost asking if anyone in your area is simply willing to help you out doing a greyscale/colour calibration.

Kal

Gee I hadn't thought this thing through huh? Embarassed Laughing

Kal your guide is very thorough and well written, I just lack the attention span,or patience, to get through it.

I've changed the post to better reflect my request. See first post.

I interpreted the request as dturco was looking for someone who could COMPREHEND how to perform the calibration but didn't have a sensor of their own. His offer to return the favor was obviously for moral support. It can be motivating just to have someone else there.

Kal's guide is excellent. However peoples brains work differently. My wife, who is a physician, is very intellegent but if I asked her to calibrate my display she couldn't do it. It wouldn't matter if she had a guide or not.
