|
|
|
I just finished the tube swap on my 6pg xtra, and fired it up. The previous owner had the brightness & contrast settings very high. I've gone through the menus, and can find the white balance for each individual tube, but can't find an overall brightness & contrast setting. Do they exist? I'd like to turn it down while I adjust everything and figure this beast out.

That was it, thank you. New problem. When I turn the projector on, the raster on the blue tube lights up, and stays lit, even when the pic is muted. When I bring up the grid to align, the blue shows no image, but the raster is lit up. Does this sound like someone messed around with the g2? Or could it be something else?

Assuming you have a signal going to it, get an image up then just turn the AKB on/off to bring that blue in line.
If the AKB doesn't tame it, it gets more complicated...

Does the blue work at all?
Or is the raster hard on all the time? If so, you have a dead neckboard. Blue Xtra neckboards fail a lot, I think it's due to the fan blowing dust on the back of them.

One of the cables going to the blue CRT socket has come off the socket or off the video board that they connect to. Tight wiring, stupid NEC design. I'll betcha a donut one has come off. If not, then you bent a pin on the CRT when putting the socket on.

It looks like one of the cables from the neckboard came off the video board, it was half on, so I plugged it back in all the way. Hopefully this fixes it. I'm gonna put everything back together, and see it that fixed it.

That didn't do it. I also turned the akb on, then off again, and it was still the same, so I swapped out the neck board, turned it on, the raster was still wonky and then it just started working. I guess it was a combination of everything.
Thanks for the help

So, is the projector working "good" now?

So far, so good. All i've brought up on screen was a crosshatch pattern. I'm sure i'll have more issues along the way.
I'm going from an ECP to the NEC, so i'm sure there's a bit of a learning curve ahead.
