Ok, so I am watching this movie on Blu-ray this morning and it is far from the first time that I've seen it. Being that, I am taking critical notice of the story, including the general visuals, 'feel', and so forth.

In the future, Chicago has a nice new monorail system (26 years from now), automobiles have gone seriously wicked with the spherical 'wheels' and heck of a nice highway road surface. And the robots, way cool, even the older models. But, some things do not seem to have progressed as much I would have expected to.

First, on the eve of the newest model being released the manufacturer touts 'up-link' capability. Hmm, I can buy a car today with up-link capability and it cannot be made available to personal bi-pedal robots until 2035? Surely some Taiwan or Korean or Japanese (if not Chinese) company would have come out with some sort of USB6.0 wireless connectivity. And what about Bluetooth!?!

Second, the aerial views showed common buildings with the same old satellite dishes. Sure you would think a more architecturally-please approached would have taken place. I mean, you can buy solar panels that look like architectural roof shingles.

Next, Dr. Calvin chastises Will Smith for his gasoline powered motorcycle. Yet, no one thinks twice of the 20th century style firearms. Where is the plasma rifle in the 20 megawatt range!?! At least some advancement in the area of rail guns have been made, no?

And with the previous generations of robots why are not some of those old buildings torn town in favor of modern conveniences? In fact, why do most of these folks even have jobs? Why hasn't the government seen fit to offer a Welfare program of a robot in every lame-arse's home?

And where is the Robot P0rn? I mean, even the Spielberg movie I.A. hinted at robot sex.

If there is one thing that is nice to see is the incandescent bulbs still exist--either that of LED lights have gotten a lot better.

I think you're thinking about the story WAY too much, Wan. Can't you sit back and relax and just watch the movie?

Besides, some of your pondering is just misguided. For instance, Bluetooth. I, Robot was released in 2004. Pre-production was probably some time in 2002, and who knows when the film adaptation was written?

Some of the visuals are just stylistic. Satellite dishes always have been and probably for the foreseeable future look pretty damn high tech. For instance, if they'd used roof shingle solar panels, how would you even know they're there?

Stop thinking so hard and just enjoy the movie!
