Hello everyone,

I watched the best of the Muppets w/ my wee one last night. She thinks the vintage beast is cool. This unit has a date stamp of 1975. The CRTs are strong so I figure an overall low hour set. Had to watch a classic show on a classic PJ.

Cool

Recently got this unit from rough storage. I replaced parts and some effort produced awesome results. The DVD video signal is strong and clear. Full color saturation is achieved using DVD besides better resolution. I watched Logan's Run later, on VHS tape. The VHS had less color in video besides lower resolution. Video can be watched even with a table lamp on directly facing opposite the silver screen(not recommended). Wikepedia states a very low lumen rating on these PJs, this one is fairly bright. Is anyone knowledgable if these are actually units are at least rated 100 to 200 lumens output properly working?

Silver paint was used to replace damaged aluminum surface.
The screen now reflects light as before and too now can be cleaned w/ a damp cloth easily.

The modular board swap design is very good to speed up servicing. Similar to the old Zenith plug in modular system. The other daily user of these units will refurbish defective boards and return them to me once tested in his unit for quality.

The screen shot is a blurred due to timed shutter and my hand movement.

Nice! You need a tripod and get some decent screen shots. Wink

Hello Analog Rocks,

I will find or possibly borrow tripod from relative. I had a good metal tripod and the legs quit working properly.

Analog, can update photo when get tripod. The advent has all analog knob controls. pretty much old school. Muppet DVD has this still scene for an amount of time which is perfect for screen shots. This unit is great to watch 70's classics. The color fidelity on these units is unreal. Cetain scenes have a definite snap and pop to the color. The brightly colored fish in some scenes appear to have an almost 3D effect if watching at the right angle and close enough to the screen. High quality inputs shows what comb filter and other circuits can do without the noise and limitations of the tuner. I have an original article from TV Guide dated 1975 stating these CRTs have an inherent 1000 line resolution. The other user of these is going to attempt to create a S-video input for a 1000A to achieve high resolution not normally heard of in these.

My little one just asked me to finish watching the Muppets DVD in the spare room with her on Friday using the Advent. I think this gadget is an instant hit. There's just something about big screen magic which is cool. I never had this much fun since buying a Novabeam used at a bargain years ago. The picture was never right for Novabeam since did'nt have proper curved screen to go with it.

Anyone else watching ancient beasts still around and running --either American or Japenese?

These are going for cheap, great for spare room, rec room ,video games etc. Hopefully someone will use and save some units before seeing the landfill.
