I have an Ampro 2000 that gives me an error code 1001 and 1002 on start up. The service manual says call the factory. Shocked Ok, that isn't likely. Anybody know where to start with these?

Many thanks
Ernie

I don't have any older AmPro service manuals anymore so I can't help with that.
Are you the "Birdman" that wrote the AmPro remote emulator program to control a AmPro projector from a PC?

1001 and 1002 should mean an incompatibility between internal modules. Did you change any boards?
Are all the leds on, on the power supply? How about the leds on the cpu board? What on and whats off?

Yes, I wrote a program to control an Ampro from a PC.

I have a service manual but it just says call the factory.

I did swap modules from one unit to another.
The unit powers up and seems to work but the error codes concern me.
I'll try swapping the modules back one by one and see what happens.

My main projector started blowing the +/-25V fuses, so I took the CPU and input modules out of it and put them in my spare projector. If it is due to swapping modules, it is probably the CPU module. Unfortunately I only have the one functioning CPU module.

At least I have someplace to start.
Thanks
Ernie

Try matching the Cpu your using with its original RGB input and registration board. If the code goes away but there is a problem with the projector, see if you can narrow it down to which board is the problem, then you may be able to swap the firmware chips between the good and bad board to solve the code problem.

The CPU board and the RBG input board are out of the same unit so I'll try the regristration board.

Thanks again.

You can ignore that error message. Every 2000 I've had with taht error (about 5), worked just fine. I do believe it's some incompatibility between modules, but I've never known what exactly, and the sets worked fine.

I tried swapping the RGB input and Registration boards but I still get the two error messages.
Since everything seems to be working ok, I'm going to run it through it's paces and see if anything pops up.
If not, then I'll just ignore the messages.

I had this problem when I got my first Ampro back in 1998 and the company was still in business. Here's the reply which worked for me:

Enter 40981[code], power the projector off with the remote and then turn off the power switch on the back of the unit. Power it back up and the error code should go away. If the code reappears and the projector and remote operate normally you can ignore the fault code.

I had to reregister under a new name as when I made a change in my email address I got deactivated and I never got an activation email.

Good luck!

Damn, good score! I'll try that on one test 2000 that does that here. Kal should put this note in the 2000/4000 area on the main site.
