hi,
i'm looking to get a VMAX 70"x70" eletric screen from elite screens. the "A" site has a few comments but no real "stay away" notes.
does anyone here have experience with them?

Just wondering why you would prefer a square screen? It's not 4:3, it's not 16:9.
Doesn't fit any standard configuration. You will want to blank out as much "white space" as you can for a better viewing image.
My 2 cents

i'll be shooting 4:3 (well, 5:4, but that's a different story) but a 4:3 screen will be too high up unless i hang it from chains. chains are for a different room in the house.
if i use a 70x70, it works out perfect for the 4:3 image centered on the screen. yes, there will be a lot of white above, but a curtain will hide that, and also hide the screen case.
i've heard a rumour that the 4:3 ratio from elite has an 18" black border on the top, and if that's the truth, i will go with the 4:3 ratio screen since that's what i'm shooting.
