Not me! We have been in a severe drought and all the rain we have had this month has not eliminated it. My yard is infested with fleas as they thrive in this weather and I do not even own a dog or cat! Damn things can live 2 years in a cocoon and hatch as you walk by. I imagine their body as being 90% mouth and teeth. I have bought so much pesticide, I'm getting strange looks from the clerks at the store.
One web site said that you have to "flood" your yard twice a week to wash all the eggs and larvae off the grass. Impossible to do this with a sprinkler so I've wishing for a tropical depression to stall right over my yard.

Hi Athanasios-
Thanks so much - we are fine - no problems by grace of God....
So many in this area completely taken out though...
We have had some nervous nights thanks to a poorly built
dam upstream - but finally the rain is over for a while and the
county has started to siphon the lake level down! Maybe I will
get some sleep tonight.....
Regards,
Galen

Thanks guys!
Gary - we are in east Cobb, between Roswell and Marietta...
normally a quiet, hilly, forested suburban area with lots of
pretty private lakes and winding neighborhoods...
The worst affected areas are south & west of us, such as Austell,
which lost ~40% of homes, and Vinings - located near the Chattahoochee
river, which flooded 28 feet (i think)....
What is amazing is how fast the water rose once the dam was overtopped!
We were getting ready to leave and several neighbors were stranded
as the water inundated the road. Luckily the additional 5" of rain forecasted
did not appear, and we have been monitoring the dam upstream daily with
pictures going to DNR....something must have spurred action since the siphon
was placed and the lake level is dropping slowly....I have pics of the erosion
on the back of the dam - it is pretty scary, as was the seepage at the base.
Hoping for some sleep tonight - but deeply grateful to have gotten by
with only some yard damage and a nervous week. So many fellow Georgians
have lost everything, and some their lives - we are very lucky....!
Regards,
Galen

The upshot is Lake Lanier is finally about full. I didn't see to much damage when I was in Vinings last week, but I didn't go into the low lying areas. I am still amazed that the river was so high that it went over I-20. They had to close the Interstate, which is something I haven't seen for water. Six Flags was flooded and was supposed to reopen by the weekend. I think I would wait a little longer before I got on any rides.
