I installed my 808 about one year ago and it has served me well until the other night when I lost picture in the middle of a movie. I assumed loose connection and went behind the equipment to confirm connection. the picture returned long enough for me to return to my seat and went off again. Double checked my connections two more times and get nothing. I then tried to bring up my adjustment menu on the projector and can't get anything out of the display at all. I opened up the projector and started looking for any signs of troubleshooting codes but quite frankly don't know what I am looking for. bad fuse? bad board? I would appreciate any help. The unit does turn on and powers up just no picture.

Do you still have the internal test patterns and on screen menus ?

Also do you have a Red LED lit on the EHT module ?

No I lost all menues and test patterns. I am not sure where to find the Eht module. I have green led at all tubes the base of the tubes have a slight glow to them. The only place I have a series or red LEDs is in the metal lid I had to open to get inside the unit. They appear to be status lights of some sort but appear that they are suppost to be red in color.

Hey curt I looked for this board and I apologize for being a rookie in theese matters but was not finding an exact match for the photos. I am assuming by reading that this board would be the one the main power comes into? This board has two fuses near th power inlet. Ihave no red LEDs on any of the boards that are lit. I do have several green ones on different boards. Again I appreciate any help.

After looking further on your site I found the overview and located the board and yes this red led is in fact on.

Based on info on your site it appears that the next step is to replace the fuse on this board. Can I purchase one of theese from you or is this something I need to get locally?

You might want to send your HV quadrupler,EHT module and maybe the HV splitter to Curt for testing. Sounds like another failed quad...

Curt in your experience what is the primary reason for quad failures ? Never had one fail yet but I could just be lucky.

Do you think the potting compound just breaks down with age or open/short high voltage diodes or capacitors ?

I am not Curt but all my quad failures have occurred on projectors and/or quads that had been sitting in storage some time before I used them. Once I put a projector into service and used it regularly I have never had a quad fail. Greg at Eisemann Theater tells me his experience is similar. Of course that does not explain failures like this one so obviously quads fail for other reasons as well.

If the LED is on, the fuse is OK. MOst likely you have a bad HD quadrupler, but as Tom says, it can also be a bad EHT board or HV splitter. Email me at curtpalme@hotmail.com. Since the HV parts cannot be tested without parts substitution to see which one is bad, I have people send me the quadrupler and the EHT board. If those check OK, then I send back an HV splitter with your parts, and that part needs soldering of the white wire, that's why I send it out last. It also does not fail quite as often as the quad or EHT b oard.

Why the failure? Simple component breakdown, the HV area of all sets is under a bit more stress than others due to the 34.000 volts involved.

My friend have same problem.

After few minutes from power on the tubes shut down and the red led of the EHT board lit.

We tried to swap other EHT and splitter but the problem remain.

We will try to swap quadrupler with one of my spare parts.

@Curt: if you have a working quadrupler R7622091 pm to me with price and other info.
