Hello,

I got two different focus boards from a marquee 8500

assembled 44/95
Focus Board (FCM) 50-2034-02P

assembled 45/97
Focus/Geometry Board (FGM) 50-0354-01P

what exactly is the difference between the two boards.

which one is the "better" one to use, or what are the advantages.

the FGM is an ultra board and is olnly good in an ultra and will not help out a plain marquee, and vice vesa an FCM will not work in an Ultra.

wow, that was fast. Thanks!

Is there any documentation listing the serial numbers of ultra-boards and none ultra-boards? Which boards despite the FCM are different between the Ultra and standard version? I have some more spare boards here, maybe I have enough parts to build an Ultra Smile

you'll need the Mother board and I think Back plane too, if you don't have those forget it, too much work.

But you'll need everything except for the HVPS , LVPS and the VNB's. I think on the CLM you only need the Ultra version of the DPB and the proper software chip at U35 and possibly U16.

Basically I have two of all the boards except HDM and the CLM (blinking lights issue I was never able to fix). So maybe it would be worth checking.

Even the Mother board?

For the CLM did you clean all chips and check the solder joints on the DPB connectors on the main board and the DPB.

If with "motherboard" you are referring to the big board with lots of plugs on it (P14 etc) which connects all the other boards, yes - I also have two of them. But as I said, I don't know if one of those is an "ultra" board.

Regarding the CLM I tried everything from cleaning, to swapping chips, changing the battery and even replacing the caps. To be precise it's not the CLM but the DPB which is broken. CLM works fine with a replacement DPB.

yeah I have one of those too, i never figured it out. I think its one of the non removable chips that goes bad, I need to make two more extender cards to be able to scope the entire CLM and DPB, But for the DPB i ordered the wrong connector I need the Board to stand up straight I ordered the flat type with a right angle, Doh!!!
