Hey guys,
Im looking at a NEC pg6 on craigslist for $225 includes remote ceiling mount and service manual. All else being the same will I see a big difference from my Barco bg800? This Xmas I will be getting a Ps3 for movies and games. My screen size is about 87" diagonal.
Thanks
Edward

Yep.
Huge upgrade.
But how are the tubes?
And beware....at 6PG is getting really old now, it may not be a smooth transition.
But if you can afford more money, a bigger improvement is an LC machine.

Not sure yet about the tubes but the price is real cheap and is local. Just wondering if it is worth the hassle of swapping units. Here is a link to the posting.

The NEC is a huge upgrade focus wise, and has very good color reproduction, but 6-8k hours on an NEC almost always means burned tubes. Now, even burned tubes will be a LOT sharper than your Barco's ES focus, but its debatable if its "worth" the hassle to change out the projectors just to get better focus/colors IF the NEC has burned tubes...
Check the tubes carefully before you buy, and see it working. If the tubes are "good" its well worth the hassle, if they're not, then its just up to you if you want to be bothered...
