I am in the process of swapping out my green tube on the Barco 1208 for a PT-18 from an Ampro,so far the tube removal and transfer is done and silicone is curing. The glycol from the barco mount is clear still but was under enough pressure to make me believe it has absorbed moisture over the years, so I am thinking it might be a good time to just replace the fluid with new. Looking around on the net it seems that most of these solutions for sale are 75% Ethylene Glycol and 25% Glycerin mixtures, so I bet I should be able to find these locally and mix up my own solution... Has anyone tried this? or should I just be patient and order some "TV Coolant" from an online supplier?

I had to make my own mixture, because it's impossible to get commercial one from Europe and it's not allowed to send it over seas from US.
Couldn't get clear ethylene glycol here, it's poisonous so all cooling fluids are colored. And you need some licence to buy clear one from chemical supplier.
So I mixed non-toxic 70% propylene glycol and 30% glycerin from pharmacy and it's working great. Haven't changed color in two year.
In US I would say order tv coolant online, could also be cheaper than own mix.

For an Air Coupled tube I dunno if it's worth the effort changing.

The chemical changes that occur cause the fluid to become corrosive. for the 15$ the two chemicals will cost at the local pharmacy I consider it worth the effort. I should probably have enough to do both of my projectors- if I feel really motivated...

It is when you call the box 'electronic parts'.

I don't sell much overseas (glycol wise), but that's how I've done it. To me, it is electronic parts, mandatory for proper operation of a CRT projector. Once, one bottle sloshed around slightly as I handed it to the post office guy, but I told him that some parts must be loose in the box. I double box it, and always make sure that the glycol bottle is factory sealed.

Put the coolant into shampoo bottles and ship them to the EU that way

You can get ethylene glycol also in Europe, from Kremer Pigmente :
http://www.kremer-pigmente.de/shopint/index.php?cat=030103&product=70910
I bought some without need for any licence.
By the way, according to this data sheet
http://www.mgchemicals.com/msds/english/liquid/803-liquid.pdf
(referring to this pj tube coolant http://www.mgchemicals.com/products/803.html )
the amount of glycerin can be anything between 20% and 35%, in weight
(note: 1,2-ethanediol = mono-ethylene glycol and 1,2,3-propanetriol = glycerin).
Originally the glycol was diluted with water only, but I think this is not so good as to the refraction index obtained.
One can also use undiluted glycol, as apparently done in Marquees, but not without problems.. see CJs post here:
