I just saw Cheap Trick on Conan. He introduced them and said their album is available on 8-Track, Vinyl and CD. LOL!
I love it!

I guess they figure since people are again digging vinyl because they like the sound of the imperfections introduced by the medium, they will like even more imperfections! So, watch out for the return of 8-track!

You're evil, Dave! I guess I can see the vinyl release, because at least those "imperfections" are desired by an increasingly large (though still niche) group of people... But, seriously... 8-track? 8-track sucked ass then and it sucks ass now. They must have though it would be cool for the 39 people who still collect 8-tracks to have a new release on the format...

I had a 1971 Pontiac Le Mans with a factory 8 track mounted under the dash.

'71 Le Mans... Nice car!
My old man had several vehicles with factory 8-tracks: Vans, trucks, and a couple of cars. The most notable (in my mind) though was a '79 T/A with the 6.6L (403 Olds). WS6 suspension, T-tops, and gold with all tan interior. That was a REALLY fun car to drive. Tons of torque and handled awesome for a car of that vintage. I wish we still had that car sitting around, actually! I drove it on nice days for a year or two before my old man sold it when it was probably 7 or 8 years old with about 30,000 miles on it to a guy who was moving to Florida - so I never even got to see it around after that. It had a factory 8-track with factory CB radio. The 8-track still sucked, though.

Hey SC why don't you buy another Firechicken and install the CD/8Track?
