|
|
Hi folks,
I have a Barco Data 500 that exhibits failings of the green gun. It's either the "green drive or cut off" or a resultant on green from perhaps an imbalance between drive/cut off intensities of the RGB or associated components.
Its more so apparent at the black-end of the greyscale test card (deviations of grey scalings are seen w/ changes to brightness levels).
I've done my best to balance out the greyscale consistency (RGB bias) across black to white, but obviously there is an underlining fault with my CRT that I do not have the experience, tools or capacity to fix. (I don't have a colour temperature meter so scaling is by eye.) (O_o)
What I have done when using the PC is "refine" / calibrate the "appearance" of the projected image by offsetting the differential between the CRT and PC Video signal using the software provided for the PC graphics card.
By way of adjusting the PC software's Gamma, Contrast, Brightness, RGB I am able to achieve a satisfactory image to compensate for the CRT's failings.
But obviously when using traditional means of DVD or VCR I do not have access to these functions so wondered if there was a simple piece of video hardware on the market that would allow me to run Video SCART, Composite, S-VIDEO, perhaps even PC VGA/RGB through with similar features available as mentioned above in the PC software.
Ofcourse over time the CRT will continue to change state so a nice piece of video attenuation hardware would help ease its inevitable doom.
PS: When I mean "simple video hardware" I also mean cheap as not to surpass the price of the Barco or the requirement of a new CRT. hehe
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Paul.

Dude, you have a BD500. You don't need to do anything but throw away the projector!!! Don't buy a Lumagen, the Lumagen is worth 100 times more than the PJ.
PJs that can blow away the picture of a BD500 are readily available for way under $1000.

I've seen those. They cost 1000s my projector cost 70UKP. (I see the intended joke).
I was looking for something from the 90s era for a couple of quid with manual video controls just to keep me happy.
PS: Stop picking on my PJ -
Regards,
Paul.

Nothing from the 90s has gamma control or the color control you seek.
