The remote control may be set to the wrong address, press the 'addr' button, then '0,0,0'. Make sure the battery is fresh as well. THe manuals are here:

Post a pix of the purple line. It could be tube wear, or ?
Also, the image is flipped by switching yoke connectors, the remote has nothing to do with flipping the image.

That purple line is from your source, it appears on some HD sources when the image isn't perfectly centered, you can't get rid of it, but you can hide it with blanking. You can get the right aspect ration simply by adjusting your vertical and horizontal sizes to make circles round.
If I remember correctly, the plugs that have to be moved for switching it from ceiling to floor configuration are on the underside of the main board when you lift it up exposing the tubes. Read the installation manual, if its not posted here, I'm sure its somewhere on the internet...
In my experience, Barco IR remotes are TERRIBLE, they usually have an extremely narrow spot where they work, and often aren't picked up by the projectors two sensors. My BG808S will only ever catch the remote on the rear sensor, the front one is pretty much useless. I use a learning remote with Barco's almost exclusively because the transmission is soooooooo much more reliable than using the factory remote. But it certainly could be an incorrectly set remote address issue too, be sure to try that.

A little OT, but Barco remote's are just great and send out a very strong IR signal. Just a light tap on any switch while holding the remote in any direction will just work.
Maybe you have a fluorescent light, or IR light in the room that interferes with the Barco's signal.

It's not uncommon that TBA2800 chip goes bad after years of use, it's active all the time when projector is in stand by.

Looks like that can be gotten rid of by the blanking controls.

wow, I thought it would be a line over the whole image, not a speck in the image.
In the full image it looks like a burn in, but up close both blue and red are separated a bit still having the same odd shape.
Do you have that "speck" no matter the source material? Or source player.
Had it been a line over the whole image it'd be an alignment or bandwidth or signal issue.
The closest I can think of is a funny chipset on the convergence board, or a deep jack in a lens, or a scratch in on the color filter.
Heh mayb' a smudge, one shouldn't underestimate what one tiny sneeze can do in the wrong place. )

As mentioned (and it's not just DVD content) this sometimes occurs with various content. I see this with CRT screens when the image is "inset" on the screen (black borders all sides) and usually it is related to "extraneous" data being decoded/displayed. I believe in ancient days, it was often the audio signal and other data.
This seems to be caused when the "image processing" part of the unit is trying to grab a non-existant scanline - which would indicate a timing or sync issue (ie: adjust source timing/sync, and/or delete blocks on PJ and let it figure out the timing/scan freqs instead of matching a "close match" block already existing).
