that's a nice deal? There is no mention of tube condition, glycol condition (or leaks), or even chassis hours. Someone took a huge $4K gamble unless they were local and could verify things.
the rest of that stuff was primo back in the day but a STB blue ray player will easilly outperform that 10 year old Faroudja scaler.

Actually that is a smoking deal... The Meridian equipment is well worth that ending price... I wouldn't consider that a gamble at all. Hell, that person would be well ahead if they don't want the projector and part it out...

See, for a guy like me that isn't familiar with high end audio, I would have only bid based on the projector and Faroudja, and to me the final bid was overpriced, but what do I know.

Yeah, looks like you'd get most, if not all your money back just selling the Meridian pieces. Assuming the buyer does that, they may end up with an (unknown condition) Vision One for almost nothing. The buyer may have inspected, too - hard to say.
I'm going to guess, given the caliber of equipment, environment in which the photos were taken (nice dealer), and the fact that it's a nice dealer, that it was probably a working pull. May even be no wear/low hours.
Looks like that deal was somewhere between a damn good deal if the projector has issues and a frickin' smokin' hot deal if the projector is in nice shape.

wow, you guys are right. A quick search of V-gon shows the Meridian 861 seling for between 3 and $7K. I can't imagine paying that much for a 5 year old piece but that stuff will always be out of my reach anyway.

I wouldn't place any bets on the V1 though, a pro install doesn't prevent any of the problems you commonly see on a 10 to 12 year old 9500LC.

I saw this ad last night (highest bid was $2100 then) but couldn't get a question to the seller regarding tube condition/function etc as there was a problem with the messaging system on Ebay. I didn't feel comfortable taking a punt even though the deal sounded great.

I agree it was smokin deal, the case on the Vision One is worth at least 500 to me But if you add in the screen with masking system, motorized ceiling mount, and of course the Meridian gear it was awesome deal!!!!!

Ya.......Right. You were bagged nice come-back though
If someone posted a question about a Marquee with a scratched lens, you would be all over him like stink with board up-grades . You never let a Marquee thread go by without it. I was reading the thread and was thinking the same thing but Nash beat me to the punch.

My 11 or 12 year old NEC doesn't seem to have any issues related to age.
Are the factory fitted Marquee caps made of cheese?

The reason I have grave doubts about this V1 is a I bought one a year ago from Hollywood. Sold by AV company so I assumed from a HT . All 3 tubes were burnt and blue had leaked. Luckily it was ceiling mounted and leaked on someones couch.
Nevertheless it has been a PITA. Doing all 3 bellows, cutting the old tubes out, potting the new ones, and now the LUG's I put in have small HV leaks on B + R. So yeah, it's been a real challenge. Color is almost the same as this one so it just had a "not so warm and fuzzy" feeling to it.
