Hi,

I notice that the Sound Advance SpeakerTile units are on a pretty good sale at Partsexpress.com these days. Has anyone had any experience with these?

I am thinking of buying a pair to see how they sound, but I am on the fence. Shipping to Ontario, Canada is a bit more expensive too Smile

Here is a link to the units I am looking at:

Cheers,
Dan

I've worked with these. I bought 2 skids full off a supplier when they got out of the line. They used to be called BEST speakers. THe good and bad:

-invisible speakers, they sound horrible when freestanding, but good for background music when installed. I wouldn't crank the heck out of these.
-nice bass response
-if you play them loud, the paint can crack over time, requiring repainting and mudding. I've seen this in some restaurants. Oops!

The price is right, go play with them Smile

Cool, thanks! I think I might just do that - they are only $79.00 each for 2-way devices!
Do you know of anyone in Canada who sells these? Do you sell these.. thinking about the two skids worth Smile

I am thinking that they might be good for the rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup because I can avoid hanging speakers.

The paint would be something applied during installation I gather? I would probably hang them in my existing suspended ceiling. I assume that the panels themselves can handle playing them without damaging the surface?

I got mine about 10 years ago, they are long gone. Smile I think Sound Advance sells them directly now into Canada, but you need to be a dealer, blah blah.

They are easy to install, then apply the drywall mud on top of them to fill in the seams, then paint. They make versions (as shown in the Parts Express ad) that drop right into the ceiling tiles. If you're doing that, then obviously no need to mud them into a wall.

It'd be kinda fun to do a whole ceiling with those...
