I believe I've found an Ampro 4600. The nameplate says nothing that I recognize from these forums but it has 9" guns and HD-10 lenses. The problem is the remote is MIA. Anyone have one they'd like to sell?? Cool

You can control it with your PC and a home made cable

He found the remote !!!!!!!
I brought the projector home (grew a third one loading it in the truck) and now I have to find a big strong friend to help me unload it.
Thanks for the ideas and offers.

Cool. Now the very first thing I want you to do is check the fan on the back and the two on the bottom for air filters. If they are there, take them off and throw them away.

Next you need to fire it up if you haven't already to insure it is funtional. The remote is connected to the "host" port and should be connected prior to pluging in the power. Flip the power switch to on, wait a few seconds and report back what is displayed on the remotes LCD.

I'm planning to do that in the morning. Thanks. I'm still sorting out what exactly I've got. The HD-10 lenses measure 5 3/8' ID. Is an HD-10 an HD-!0 or do they fit one size gun only. This thing is HEAVY. somewhere around 250#. Where do I look to find the model ie) 4000, 46000 whatever.
You say throw away the filters. I assume that the filters cause more damage than they prevent by stopping the airflow when they get dirty and slowing it down even when they are clean. They are gone.
Thanks

I see you are dog person.
My last dog died just before I moved to this house . She was a 50/50 border collie/husky 17 years old, got her at 3 months. We now have 10 cats down from 11. My respect and my sympathy go out to anyone who genuinely cares about critters..
Anyway back to fun. I know what little I know about projectors from this forum so I'll be along with lots more basic stupid questions.
Thanks again

Thanks! Check out 'Sparky's' site, (my fiance.) Her dog rescue is now the largest in BC, she has a book offer on the table, it's pretty insane. All I do with the dogs is walk them, and clean up poop. Good times! Very Happy

Ever notice how hard it is to leave something alone when you first get it?
The display says "AMPRO 4600 HD" I expect that's good? I think I figured out where to find the model ((4000,4600, whatever)
Friday night and we all are doing things. If there's a good time for you let me know. Thanks

It is, but the later 4600s came with the slightly better HD10GT17 lenses. No biggie though, you're off to a REALLY good start. Smile

OK so it turns on. What else should I check before I hang it from the ceiling.
Speaking of hanging it from the ceiling I read in the CRT primer that size of the screen and distance from the screen are not 2 different options on a CRT but are functions of each other. I couldn't find anything specific to this model but that probably means I didn't look in the right place. How critical is the distance, I mean how do I decide how far from the screen and how much adjustment do I have on the screen size once it's hung? The screen is 5' x 9' unpainted drywall, and will be painted or screen goo'd when I get that far.

Plug in your source, make it as wide as you can on the face of the tube by looking though the lens, don't go past the sides.

Move your projector forward and backward until the image fills your screen width. Focus lenses, fine tune your distance. That's where your projector need to go.

There's a simple little throw distance calculator for Ampro's right on this site. Just download and run it. It's a little conservative so some fine tuning to get more use of the tube face can be done by moving the PJ just a little closer.
