I got tired of the wife asking how to run the system. I was on www.ecost.com and I found the Logitech Harmony 1000. I received it today and thought WTH I'll program it for my barco also, not expecting that it would work. I go down plug the Barco in and BAM remote turns it on Schweet. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

I liked the price, 450 dollar remote for 149 dollars. I can't wait till I can get the dedicated theater started so I can use this remote in there. I can also get a deal to hook up to the PS3 so the remote can control it also.

Good score. I got mine awhile ago for $239 with Live cashback so you got a steal!

Did you get the IR blasters? Those are a must for a dedicated theater.

I can't lie...the remote is nice...but, all of the new touch screen gadgets have spoiled me and the touch screen on this device comparatively is horrible.

Although nice enough for its simple function, not very nice in perspective of small touch screen devices.

Thats cool but I'll never have another universal remote in my theater after having Crestron in it. In my theater I have two touch panels. The main one is a 10.4 inch (CT-3500) color touch panel which I think is the perfect size for theater control buttons. The second is a 5.7 inch (ST-1700) wireless panel that I use mostly for projector tweaking as it allows me to walk right up to the screen when making adjustments. It's usable as a theater control but due to it's size, requires 2-3 pages for complete control of a device with buttons large enough to work with. Also, half of my equipment is controlled via RS-232 and half IR. The only RF is my PS3 which will soon be replaced with the new Sony BD mega changer which will be controlled via RS-232.

I have a logitech 880, I can imagine the 1000 is pretty awesome too. Like stefuel I'm doing crestron right now but haven't finished my touchpanel yet. The logitech stuff is much easier to program though, and cheaper. Smile

I also just bought a Harmony 1000 on sale.
My old Harmony H628 would not support the 336KHz IR frequency needed for my "new" Marquee 9500LC Ultra.
Logitech provided excellent support.
But I like this remote a lot, except for the fact that you have to look at it to change channels, vs. the old Harmony where you could select the number buttons in the dark without taking your eyes off the screen.

I prefer the Harmony 880/890 over the 1000, as I just like tactile buttons that I can press in the dark without having to look at a screen, or have a bright screen light up during a dark scene. But that's just my preference.

TV/Projector: Marquee 9501LC / NEC 9PG+

My buddy brought his 1000 over to show me. He had downloaded the NEC PG codes and was able to do some things with it, but he said there's be a lot of fiddling around to get it working the way I wanted it to, so I haven't put one on the wish list yet. It would be nice to have everything on one remote though.

I mainly got it because the wife has a hard time remembering how to turn everything on. I figured if I could make it simpler, like just touching the "watch tv" icon on the screen that should do the trick.

I was amazed when I selected barco in the projector category and was able to make it work with my 808. Now I can make adjustments right up on the screen and not have to do the "tweak-walk-check tweak-walk-check".

But for now it is being used on my Runco 933/6pg-xtra. I am still fine tuning it so when I change to the radio it doesn't shut the projector down.

to stop the auto shutdown you might have to set the remote to think that there is no power on/off for the Runco device. then it will think that it is constantly on. you will then have to send the power on and power off commands in the start activity sequence and stop activity sequence when you want the PJ to turn on and off.

I think if you just include the projector device in your Radio activity, it will do what you want.
If the projector is on when you switch to the Radio activity, it will leave it on.
If the projector is off when you switch to the Radio activity, it will turn it on.
If you power off while in the Radio activity, it will power off the projector.
If you switch from the Radio activity to another activity that has the projector device, it will leave it powered on.
(Make sure you use the discrete codes for power on and power off and not just the power toggle for the projector).
I had this EXACT configuration on my Runco 980 Ultra and the Harmony H628. I also have it on Harmony 1000 now.

The way I do this is to change the options of every activity to leave unused devices on. By default, when you switch to another activity, any devices not used by the new activity will be turned off. This is a pain if you switch from watching a blu-ray movie to DirecTV, but want to go back to the blu-ray at some point, for example. Rebooting blu-ray players is still a slow process. By leaving unused devices on in all activities, you can quickly switch between them without having stuff turn off/on unnecessarily.

Does it come in black? I'm only seeing silver out there.

The new version does and looks pretty darn sleek. I don't think the 1000 comes in anything but silver.
