So I found a cheap working Panasonic PT-M1085U on CL and figured I would pick it up just to see what I can get. It looks like the tubes are in good shape, I can't see any signs of burn on them though I see they will have to have some of the glycol removed as I can't find an air bubble. Being my first CRT projector, I had a few questions about what I have noticed so far.

1. There appears to be some type of fungus inside the lenses. (pic attached). Probably usable as is, but I was wondering if it is possible to clean that, or if it just means replacing the lenses? I don't know how difficult these lenses are to disassemble.

2. All 3 tubes seem to have a few raster lines fully lit up along the bottom of the CRT (pic). I am not sure if this is normal, or what would cause it to happen if not.

3. When using S-video, the picture seems to have a vertical shake to it (I checked that the "swing" is set to off). This does not happen when I switch to an RGB input.

The shake when using S-video is likely from a crappy video card, most crt projectors do plain video very badly. I've never even seen a Marquee video input board that ever worked...

The stray lines on all three tubes could be a AKB circuit, have you had the set on and displaying a picture for more than a half hour at least ? If its an auto on color balance circuit, it might only run for a pre-defined amount of time, often about 20 minutes...

Those "fungus" pictures almost look like old fingerprints which have just never been cleaned off and now have a nice thick coating of dust caught in them...if they're on the outermost lens element don't eve worry about it as they won't be visible at all on screen...

You may be right about the raster lines, I haven't had it on for long periods of time yet. Those "fungus" marks are on the inside of the last element, so I would hope not somebodies fingerprint
