I did a real stupid thing.
I unhooked the battery on the CPU card to my 4200. I was thinking it would set everything back to factory defaults. Now I can not get the CPU to communicate with the remote. I have turned it off and on probably at least 100 times and no go. If I leave it on it will auto restart. I can turn it off with the remote but nothing shows on the remote. This is that strange 4200 CPU that uses the new style remote. I have tried it with 4 different remotes(2 new,2 old style).
Any ideas?

Well I would have had the answer for you had you asked prior to removing the battery. Now it's kind of like closing the gate after the horses got out. The trick to keeping everything in tact during battery replacement is to have two batteries. Solder jumpers from the first battery to convenient spots on the board to hold the memory then de-solder the old battery and replace it. Then remove the jumper battery. I don't remember how to regain communication once it's lost. It is somewhere here on Curt's site.

What is the number on the CPU card? I'll look and see if I have one.

I have turned it on and off at least 100 times trying to get it to communicate.

Have you tried any of the remote control buttons to see if the remote is working even though there is no display? The projector might be in "quiet" mode which blanks display. 900 then code disables quiet mode. How did you unhook the battery? It's normally soldered to the PCB.

I Removed the jumper link to disconnect the battery.
I know the power button works on the remote but not sure about the rest. I will have to try code 900 on it tomorrow.

Ok I finally got the chance to go and try to fix this thing. I flipped it on and off several times until it auto restarted. I then waited and turned it off with the power button on the remote. I turned it back on with the remote and did the 900 code. The remote lit up and all is well. I put the jumper back on the battery and did a convergence on it. It was looking pretty sweet when I left for home.
Thanks Scott
